Bryan is passionate about incorporating promising robotics technology into products and systems that will improve safety and productivity while enhancing people’s lives. While at Carnegie Mellon University’s National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC), Bryan managed a portfolio of the center’s largest commercial programs, including autonomous mining trucks for Caterpillar. In 2007, Bryan led software engineering for Tartan Racing, Carnegie Mellon’s winning entry in the DARPA Urban Challenge. Bryan departed NREC and joined the Google self-driving car team in 2011 to continue the push toward making self-driving cars a reality. While at Google, Bryan was responsible for the development and manufacture of their hardware portfolio, which included self-driving sensors, computers and several vehicle development programs. Bryan graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering in 2002.

Peter is a seasoned leader in the development of complex, autonomy-enabled systems, as well as the organizations that build those systems. Passionate to see robotics technology change the world, Peter has consistently pursued opportunities to help make that change happen, from working on a number of commercialization projects at the National Robotics Engineering Center at Carnegie Mellon University, to being part of the formative team that launched Uber’s self-driving car efforts. His core robotics work spans computer vision, perception, path planning and control, and simulation-based robotic system development and testing. He has also led numerous human-centric robotic interface programs that leverage underlying autonomy technologies to aid human operators at multiple levels of interaction. Peter holds a master’s degree (1993) and a Ph.D. (1998) in electrical and computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and a bachelor’s degree (1991) in electrical engineering from University of Detroit-Mercy.

Summer is a leader in cyber security with more than 19 years of experience in risk management and software engineering. She came to Argo AI from Carnegie Mellon University’s CERT cyber security division where she served as technical director of cyber security risk and resilience. Prior to her work at CERT, Summer was a technical member at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab and a software engineer at Northrop Grumman. Today, in addition to her role as Argo’s chief information officer, she is an adjunct faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University and active in circles that promote cyber security education, and diversity and inclusion. She advises corporate boards on cyber security governance and serves as a director on the board for PAWomenWork, a Pittsburgh nonprofit with a goal to empower women to find careers with family-sustaining wages. Summer holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in information science from the University of Pittsburgh.
