Assists the Surgical Services Manager with overall supervision and daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department. Evaluates workflow and makes staffing assignments. Assists the Manager in meeting productivity and labor expense targets. Oversees the training and competency of Sterile Processing Technicians. Recognizes and identifies the existence of problems or improvement opportunities and takes action to troubleshoot issues. Coordinates Quality Assurance programs and provides in-service and education opportunities for the department. *What you will do:* * Promotes a Culture of Safety by adhering to policy, procedures and plans that are in place to prevent workplace injury, violence or adverse outcome to associates and patients. * Relationship-based Care: Creates a caring and healing environment that keeps the patient and family at the center of care throughout their experience at Mount Carmel following the principles of our interdisciplinary care delivery system. * (For patient care providers) Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives, and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program . * Maintains open and active communication with the medical staff, patient care staff and interdepartmental staff. * Coordinates daily work assignments, monitoring all processing areas. Maintains employee schedule ensuring adequate coverage for hours of operation and call coverage on weekends and Holidays. * Assists SPD Manager in evaluations of Sterile Processing staff. * Acts as liaison and facilitates communication between sterile processing and operating room personnel/nursing units. * Facilitates the processing of instrumentation and equipment, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction. Assist with collecting data for Quality Assurance. * Reviews operating room schedules, anticipating needs and/or conflicts with instrumentation, coordinating instrumentation for all procedures with operating room personnel. * Responsible for the daily review of all recording tapes and biological / chemical tests from all sterilizers and records results. Implements hospital policy and procedure for positive biological tests. * Monitors staff compliance with all required safety precautions. * Assumes responsibility of department in absence of Manager SPD * Coaches' staff and rounds with staff consistently. * Conducts staff meetings/huddles and provides educational opportunities for staff. * Ensures SPD policies and procedures are kept updated. * Ensures the competency of all SPD staff and other staff who may be involved in high level disinfection and/or sterilization in other areas. Maintains departmental education records in compliance with regulatory guidelines. * Oversees quality and infection control initiatives for SPD. * Provides a comprehensive and technical orientation, education and training program for the sterile processing staff. * Assists Manager with managing labor and supply components of the budget. * Assists Manager in organization functions of the department. * Assists Manager in conducting annual performance evaluations of SPD staff. * Assist the Manager with evaluation of the department's service delivery. Recommends and implements process improvements. * Responsible for all daily operations in the absence of the SPD Manager. * Develops educational calendar for all in-service training. Provides education and training to SPD staff. * Demonstrated leadership in directing and maintaining productive and positive behavior among staff. *Other Responsibilities:* * Position requires an individual who is self-motivated, able to complete assignments with minimal supervision. Attention to detail, quality of work, and ability to organize work are critical and vital factors. Independent problem solving, strongly recommended. * Must have a good working knowledge of Instruments, the operation/workings of the OR and be able to readily understand their issues and requests. Be able to speak the language of the OR. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Strong computer skills required including a working knowledge of MS Word, MS Powerpoint and MS Excel. * Self-starter, ability to work independently when required. Details: + **13 weeks of clinical duty per year, consisting of 7-day blocks of overnight shifts (10pm-7am) followed by 21 days off.** + Work remotely from home anywhere in the USA except Alaska, Hawaii, and New Jersey. Microsoft Teams used for communication with assistance from 24-hour reading room coordinator. + Shifts involve whole-body acute care imaging (ED & Inpatient). Mainly CT, US, and XR with a small component of MRI. + Successful candidates will be staffed in tandem with existing emergency/acute care radiologists and an emergency neuroradiologist (becoming the 5 th overnight radiologist per night in the healthcare system). + Provide remote support to residents who currently work overnight. + Very competitive base salary with annual incentive bonus, professional development fund and retirement contribution. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: + This role has leadership responsibility for efficient administrative processes, effective data and reporting infrastructure, and operations support to LGS leadership and constituent/client program staff. + This individual supervises administrative and support staff within the academic operations area and works with internal and external clients to provide timely, efficient, and high-quality operations. + This position reports to the Vice Provost and Dean of Laney Graduate School. + Serves as an advocate for LGS needs within broader university academic operations and collaborates closely with leadership and management across university academic and administrative units. + Works in partnership with other LGS offices to ensure integrity, efficiency, and effective integration of systems and processes where analytics and information processing are critical to delivering high-quality constituent and client services. + Ensures that student progress and tracking data are accurate, timely, and appropriately supported, and that data systems are maintained to meet institutional needs. + Directs the management and continued development of the electronic student data and tracking system (currently and for the foreseeable future, Slate). + This system supports the following areas: applications and admission, enrollment and registration, student database systems for program planning, student records and outcomes databases, student progress, professional development support funds, and fellowships application processes. + The system interfaces with Emory enterprise data systems. + Additional areas of use may be developed as institutional needs to evolve. + Ensures that reliable, accessible student data is prepared and delivered in a timely manner to support academic programs and student affairs. + Responsibilities include overseeing automated reporting systems and databases for institutional research and external agencies. + Contributes to communications efforts that effectively reach multiple constituents in support of a broad range of academic and administrative goals. + Leads responsibility for overseeing the logistics of the LGS Diploma Ceremony, working in close collaboration with other LGS offices. + In partnership with direct reports and other LGS staff, the individual provides leadership in advancing service excellence to internal and external clients by enhancing timeliness and accuracy, reducing redundancies, and fostering a strong, and responsive service ethic among LGS community. + Defines and documents major and recurring LGS processes to enhance transparency, increase appropriate skill redundancy, and strengthen staff confidence and preparedness. + The individual develops the resources and secures training necessary to implement and sustain electronic systems for supporting academic operations, as described above, in all relevant areas. + Leads and supports staff through both direct supervision and indirect oversight in support of programmatic and operational objectives. + The individual will perform other duties as required. (4) Assists with the management of patient records, files & notifications. * Performance Improvement: In conjunction with the Site Administrator, (1) Develops imaging modality monitors & reports quality indicators focusing on optimal patient outcomes, regulatory compliance & risk management, customer service, and continuous quality and process improvements. (2) Participates in performance improvement process teams. * Computer Skills: (1) Utilizes computer systems appropriate to area effectively. (2) Utilizes internet and intranet appropriately. * Initiative: (1) Maintains a responsible attitude toward individual performance in accordance with approved policies & procedures. (2) Responsible for the meeting individual education and training requirements. (3) Responsible to facilitate improvement in patient care services, staff / physician relationships and the working climate. (4) Responsible / accountable for professional development and maintaining licensure. (5) Attends departmental meetings as required. (6) Assists in orientation of new staff and participates in student instruction and experiences when requested. (7) Assists in maintenance of departmental compliance with continuous regulatory readiness. Other Job Responsibilities: * Responsible for compliance with Organizational Integrity through raising questions and promptly reporting actual or potential wrongdoing. * Participates in and coordinates with organizational process to collect and evaluate information about hazards and safety practices that are used to identify safety management issues. Adheres to established policies and procedures, which may include wearing of personal protective equipment. * Participates in and fosters a performance improvement approach that includes both intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities. * Exhibits a customer service and community focus. * Fosters a climate that will assist Diley Ridge to fulfill its mission. * Accepts other duties, responsibilities and / special projects as assigned by the Site Administrator.
