Minimum Job Requirements:

Compensation Information
The new hire base pay for this role has a salary range of $123,000 to $167,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and US location. The salary range provided reflects the base salary and in addition may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses, commissions, equity, and benefits including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, tax savings and income protection. Who You'll Work With
As a Senior/Lead PFE software engineer, you will collaborate and work with customers, product management and engineers to design and build novel packet forwarding features in EOS that help networks run effectively and efficiently. You will need to understand the packet forwarding architecture in depth and figure out how to apply it optimally to solve customer problems. You will design the packet forwarding flow, design data structures and algorithms to render the packet forwarding state used by the forwarding engine for efficiency and scale, and tie it all together with the higher layers.
In this role, you will get to confront complex, multi-dimensional problems such as "Upgrade software on a switch with no more than a few milliseconds of downtime" or "Render a routing table with >1M routes into the forwarding path on a router with a hundred forwarding chips" that are open ended, challenging, fun and require strong problem solving skills.

While the primary focus area for this role is packet forwarding, the role will cover all aspects of software development spanning the addition of new features, debugging problems and fine tuning code for scalability and performance. What You'll Do
As a critical member of the Arista Sales Engineering team, you will act as a trusted advisor to our customers, gathering requirements and identifying opportunities with existing and new customers.
Collaborate with Arista Account Managers to gain an in-depth understanding of our enterprise and commercial clients and conduct whiteboard network architectural reviews to identify areas for improvement in network performance and efficiency
Conduct Arista product presentations of Arista's Open Networking Data Center and Cognitive Campus (including Wi-Fi) networking solutions, CloudVision (Network Automation), Security (Network Detection), Endpoint Security, and Real-time Fabric Monitoring solutions
Utilize your expertise in network design and implementation, including leaf and spine architectures involving overlay technologies such as VxLAN and EVPN, to create consistent and highly scalable Arista Data Center and Campus network solutions that improve network performance and efficiency for our enterprise and commercial clients in the region
Conduct thorough hands-on testing of customer proof-of-concept setups, Data Center and/or Campus network designs, and network deployments using the latest Arista products and features. This testing will ensure the successful deployment and performance of Arista network solutions that meet the specific needs of our clients and prospects in the region
Offer design guidelines and provide recommendations to our clients and prospects in the region to enhance the performance and efficiency of the networks they support. These recommendations will balance specific customer needs with proven Arista Validated Designs to meet the specific needs of our clients and designed to optimize their network infrastructure.
Collaborate with the sales team to respond to RFP/RFQs and provide valuable customer feedback to Product Management and Engineering.
Through your expertise and insights, you will help to ensure that Arista network solutions meet the needs of our clients and prospects in the region. As a member of the Arista Sales Engineering team, you will help drive features, functions, and product development through your feedback and help shape the future of our network solutions.
Serve as a representative of Arista at SDN and other Open Networking industry events and conferences. Through your expertise and thought leadership, you will help to build awareness and promote Arista's innovative network solutions.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in networking technology, including competitive solutions, products, and services
Author and collaborate on informative white papers on Arista technology and products that showcase your expertise in network design and implementation and help solve real world customer challenges.
Qualifications
Network Industry Certification preferred, such as ACE-L4, ACE-L6, ACE-L7, and others.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in L2/L3 networking design and implementation with a focus on Data Center, Campus, and Wi-Fi solutions.
Expert-level experience with routing and switching, including L2/L3 protocols, as well as overlay technologies such as VxLAN.
Current hands-on experience in designing highly scalable leaf-spine network architectures.
Proven work experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Pre-Sales SE, or Network Consulting Engineer is preferred.
Expert knowledge in Ethernet, RSTP/MSTP, VLANs, IP Routing, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, eBGP, VxLAN, Multicast, Spanning Tree, and QoS.
Good understanding of the competitor technology landscape, specifically Cisco and Juniper.
Expert-level knowledge of the industry-standard Command Line Interface (CLI).
Previous experience building network automation using Python and Ansible is highly desired.
Strong writing skills and ability to create informative white papers on technology and products is highly desired.

Additional Information
The new hire base pay for this role has a salary range of $134,000 to $176,000. Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. The pay range provided reflects base pay only and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Employees in Sales roles are eligible to participate in Arista's Sales Incentive Plan, which pays commissions calculated as a percentage of eligible sales. Compensation Information
The new hire base pay for this role has a salary range of $108,000 to $140,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and US location. As a core member of the Platform software team, the candidate will be part of a fast-paced, high caliber team building diagnostic software to help validate high-speed digital designs and achieve high yields in manufacturing Arista Network products used in the computer networking industry's largest data centers.
Who You'll Work With
The Platform software team is responsible for all aspects of the development and delivery of hardware validation and manufacturing diagnostic software. The successful candidate will work closely on a project from its early conception to the final production stage at an off-site contract manufacturer. They will work with fellow engineers and members of the hardware and manufacturing team to understand the design and validate it. Besides closely working with the hardware engineers in designing the board, they will also review the hardware specifications and produce diagnostic specifications for the board.
With that as a basis, the candidate will design the code to bring all of these to life. They will also work with customers to triage and fix problems in their networks. They will play a major role in improving yield at the contract manufacturer site as their software will be critical in validating the builds and quickly identify manufacturing defects.
What You'll Do
This role demands a strong and broad software engineering background, and a good understanding of hardware board design technology as well as third party network processors. The candidate's role will not be limited to any single aspect of managing ASIC-based networking solution, but cover all aspects of bringing up new hardware, developing all features requiring hardware validation, testing the software and hardware, and supporting our customers using the products.
