Job Description: Salary Range: $48,600 - $55,000 per year; DOE The Academic Success Advising Coordinator serves as a non-supervisory operational team lead for a group of advisors. In this role, they provide high-quality, developmentally appropriate advising to students while supporting team alignment, consistency, and effectiveness. Coordinators identify trends in student needs, advising workflows, and caseload patterns; distinguish individual issues from systemic challenges; and elevate insights with clear recommendations to the Assistant Director. They support operational problem-solving by proposing and testing student-centered solutions, reinforcing shared workflows and communication standards, and partnering with campus units to resolve cross-functional issues. Also serve as a communication bridge between advisors and leadership by synthesizing updates, clarifying expectations, facilitating solution-focused discussions, and helping advisors understand how daily work aligns with college goals related to persistence, student experience, coordinated care, and compliance. Essential Duties: Provide high-quality, developmentally appropriate academic advising to assigned students, supporting persistence, progression, and timely degree completion through individual and group advising interactions. Manage an advising caseload with accuracy, responsiveness, and transparency, utilizing university systems and tools to document advising, monitor progress, and coordinate student support. Serve as a non-supervisory operational lead for a group of advisors while maintaining direct advising responsibilities. Identify trends in student needs, advisor feedback, workflows, and caseload data; distinguish individual issues from systemic challenges; and elevate insights with clear summaries and recommendations to the Assistant Director. Support operational problem-solving by proposing, testing, and documenting student-centered solutions that improve advising efficiency, consistency, and student experience. Reinforce alignment to shared advising practices, workflows, communication standards, and college goals related to student success, persistence, coordinated care, and compliance. Serve as a communication bridge between advisors and leadership by synthesizing updates, clarifying expectations, and facilitating solution-focused team discussions. Collaborate with campus partners to resolve cross-functional advising and student support issues. Support change management efforts by translating new processes or policies into clear guidance for advisors and elevating implementation feedback. Prepare reports, documentation, and analysis related to advising trends, outcomes, and operational improvements. Demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and emotional intelligence when addressing complex student situations or escalated concerns. Perform other duties as assigned. Working Environment: Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse. Frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Location Headquarters: UC ANR, Davis, CA. Purpose: The Associate Director/Academic Coordinator II will provide statewide coordination and leadership for activities of the UC ANR Policy Institute. Specifically, this position will collaborate with the Director to develop new sources of funding including preparing grant applications and engaging with donors. This position will also communicate science-based research, pursue new opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers internal and external to UC ANR, oversee contracts and grants, build relationships with local, state, and federal policymakers, and serve as a resource for UC academics engaging in science-to-policy work. The UC ANR Policy Institute (Policy Institute), housed within the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources, will be the one-stop shop for policymakers to find and easily access scientists and cutting-edge research on issues critical to California. The Policy Institute will also connect affiliated researchers to work across specialty areas, serve as a resource for UC academics interested in expanding policy-relevant work and communications, and will establish a policy advisory board to help identify priority research areas, grant opportunities, and partnerships. The Policy Institute will also conduct original research and real-time economic analyses to remain relevant and responsive to timely, critical issues. Alignment. As described in UC ANR's Vision 2040, California faces a complex, ever-changing regulatory environment in which science-based input and community engagement are needed to inform policy decisions and implementation. Now more than ever, solutions are needed to mitigate the impact of extreme weather events and other disasters, advance more efficient methods of agriculture production, further sustainable land stewardship, strengthen food systems, and build resiliency to future impacts of social, political, and ecological challenges. As these challenges increase in complexity so, too, do their solutions. Local, state, and federal policies and regulations must adapt and be responsive, taking into consideration current scientific and technological advances. This position will help UC ANR achieve its mission of cultivating thriving communities, sustainable agriculture, resilient ecosystems, and economic prosperity in California through development and sharing of equitable and collaborative science-based solutions that have national and global impact.
