On October 18, 1946, residents read the front-page headline, “Library adopted as war memorial,” in the Daily Herald.
When the Library moved to the new building in June of 1968, they sold the Belmont Building to Arlington Heights School District 25.
Both the Diagnostic Learning Center and the Instructional Resource Center were in the building until early 1971.
The two-story library completed an $8.9 million renovation in 1994 and is split by a fountain on the first floor into two main parts.
In October 2012, the library began a renovation and reorganization project designed to meet the changing needs of the community.
