Business lawyers Thomas Harper Cobbs (pictured) and John E. Bishop form a law partnership, Bishop and Cobbs, in St Louis on January 1, 1901.
The firm becomes the first law firm tenant of the Metropolitan Square building in downtown St Louis, which was built on the same site as the firm’s first office in 1901.

In 1927, William Armstrong joins as an associate.
Kenneth Teasdale, a good friend of William Armstrong and well-known St Louis-based trial lawyer, joins the firm and in 1949 Teasdale is added to the firm name.
In 1989, it merged with Dietrich, Davis, Dicus, Rowlands, Schmitt & Gorman, which became the firm's Kansas City office.
In 1995, it created a consulting arm called A-T International Consultants to practice Chinese law out of Shanghai.
By 1996, Armstrong Teasdale had 168 lawyers and was the third largest law firm in the St Louis area.
In 2018, Steve retired from AT and now serves as president and CEO of affiliate Cousins Allied Strategic Advisors, LLC.
The firm established its first east coast office in Philadelphia in 2018.
Since 2019, the office has grown to include prominent attorneys in the corporate, white-collar criminal defense, commercial finance and bankruptcy, and intellectual property areas, among others.
In 2021, the firm expanded to the Delaware and the United Kingdom by merging with Kerman & Co.
