Being a track mechanic, I gained the experience of electrical and hydraulic and help me my current career field As a machine mechanic and supervisor of a maintenance team.
Cones working or sometimes very long hours being up overnight. Little food, not very good qualityfood. And having the chance of being called up and going to 400 to fight.
But if it was learning. I haven an experience to actually work on heavy equipment. Learning new technologies, learning teamwork and working with others.
I don't know what CEO would be the right terminology for the leadership role. But if you're talking about a commander, our commander was very fair up front and honest with us. And work well with us.
The company culture was fine. Daily downfall is the particular unit that was in did not have very up-to-date equipment. That there was a lot of hammer down equipment. And then when you got to the real thing it's hard to relate some equipment
I did not prepare for any type of interview. Just went and talked to recruiter, then went down and took the test. And based off of my prior skills and knowledge of being a mechanic set me forward to be a wheel mechanic than a track mechanic.
The compensation for the Ohio National Guard is very minimal to be up for 3 days. Straight sometimes and working overnight and little meals sometimes wasn't really worth the 150 bucks at the time that we are getting.
I had no issues with the diversity or the presentation that I was given before. I got into my unit. Everything was told out front and also I had a co-worker that doesn't explain everything to me.
The most joy was getting away for the weekend away from the hustle and bustle. Of work, meeting up with friends and working on equipment. That wasn't everyday equipment it was your nig working on a tanks
Diverse mission and problem set. Get to develop future leaders - military and civilian.
No upward mobility.
Somewhat flexible on telework - when required.
Traveling, networking, information access
Family benefits package, the great opportunity that is offered. The way you work for what you get, nothing is given
