PURPOSE:
As a Material Handler, you will perform a variety of duties including picking lumber, masonry and/or building materials and staging for customers and deliveries.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Service customers with a polite, courteous, friendly, and professional manner.
Safely and accurately load and unload delivery and tractor-trailer trucks.
Maintain the integrity of products through proper handling and storage.
Responsible general housekeeping to ensure our warehouse/yard standards are met in a safe and professional manner. This may include sweeping, consolidation of product, facility maintenance, organizing product and other tasks as necessary.
Maintain Department and Equipment
Replace stock as received/sold.
Ensure stock is stacked correctly and neatly to preserve quality of product.
Keep yard and building areas clean, free of debris, and organized.
Report and process damaged, and unsaleable stock.
Request and place any needed signage with assigned area per company guidelines.
Transfers and Deliveries
Accurately pull all necessary product for needed transfers, work orders, or deliveries.
Communicate any discrepancies immediately with Supervisor on Duty.
Stage or palletize product in a safe and secure manner.
Process all paperwork in a timely fashion.
Safety Protocols
Unload and load vehicles safely and securely.
Complete Forklift Pre-Trip Inspections and accompanying documentation.
Maintain OSHA Forklift Operator certification and follow all safety regulations required by OSHA and Arnold Lumber Company.
Maintain required certifications and up-to-date equipment training.
Follow all applicable OSHA and ALC safety regulations for position.
OTHER JOB DUTIES:
Maintain a working knowledge of all equipment and machinery used in position
Attend trainings and self-learning opportunities to keep up to date on products in assigned area

Job Summary:

Attend monthly sales meetings, trade show events, and other after-hours business events.

Take orders for customers over the phone, in person, and in the field.

Quote material estimates to customer.
Work with other divisions to promote sales.
Manage customer expectations.
