12-month tenured position

Reports directly to the Dean of the Library. Administers and provides overall leadership for the department. Supervises 8-10 departmental faculty and staff, and supports their development and growth, particularly the mentoring of tenure-track faculty. Fosters a professional and collegial environment within the department and the library. Ensures the delivery of effective and high-quality departmental services. Develops and communicates goals and objectives for the department; and participates in the library's management group, taking a broad library-wide perspective while representing the department's needs. Collaborates with various stakeholders to achieve library and university goals including NMSU LEADS 2025 . As a member of the library faculty, pursues an active and ongoing program of professional development appropriate for rank at the university. Ensures compliance with relevant library and university policies and procedures, including department head roles and responsibilities as specified in 6.72-Department Heads Responsibilities of the New Mexico State University Administrative Rules and Procedures (ARP). As a member of the library faculty, is responsible for achieving in the following areas:

• Librarianship
• Scholarship and Creative Activity
• Outreach and Extension (when appropriate)
• Service

Specific duties of the incumbent include the following:

• Overseeing the Emerging Technology Lab
• Overseeing library instruction (credit courses and one-shot instruction, including community visitors)
• Chairing the Collection Teams to facilitate support for the research needs of the NMSU Community
• Facilitating departmental collaboration with the Outreach and Programming Committee and internal activities for scholarly communications, community outreach, and student success initiatives
• Facilitating and exploring research trends for reference, research, and government documents
• Promoting a diverse and collegial work and research environment

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, scheduled 40 hrs/week. Days and hours of work vary. Must be available to work days, evenings and weekends.

Required Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED

• 2+ years of customer service experience

• 1+ years of retail job experience

• 2+ years of product knowledge of items in assigned department

• Responsible for all lighting and rigging systems oversight, design, implementation, and management company-wide.
• Review all lighting implementations company-wide and either approve or correct as needed.
• Mentor and train project management on Vectorworks best practices and help define and develop company standards. Review and report on individual performance to the General Manager
• Solely responsible for lighting department hiring in warehouse and field, including full-time staff and freelance
• Actively onboard, mentor, and train new hires and existing lighting staff.
• Responsible for all lighting tech scheduling, skills assessment, development, and disciplinary action up to and including termination.
• Manage lighting department’s company PTO and sick time based on company standard
• Maintain field tech hours. Ensure all warehouse projects are scheduled in advance, necessary, and completed in a timely manner
• Work with sub rent vendors to achieve the best pricing for the lighting department and help the project management team with the best equipment over hire practices.
• Review and ensure lighting and rigging inventory system is correct, implement proper maintenance, provide ROI on inventory, and assist and consult departmental expenditures company-wide.
• Attend events to ensure company standards are met and to capitalize on training and mentoring opportunities
• Execute limited high-level events as Lighting Director and Rigging Supervisor
• Project Manage events as needed
