Clinical Research Intern - Arthrex Initiated Studies

The Orthopedic Research Department is based in Naples, FL and encompasses the Clinical, Biomechanical and Biomaterial Teams. The individual chosen for this position will work for the Clinical Research Team to support ongoing research studies, maintain study documents and work with data management. The individual should be progressing toward an associated field such as business or healthcare and interested in pursuing a career in clinical research.

This internship will run from May 2022 - August 2022. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.
Main Objective:

To assist Clinical Research department with summer projects and daily activities of managing Arthrex initiated clinical studies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Draft and distribute meeting minutes for clinical research team meetings /schedule clinical research team meetings and other meetings for projects.
* Conduct literature search and review for new clinical study design references.
* Perform clinical site data review per study schedule and data review for site payments.
* Complete research ethics training online course and other relevant trainings.
* Develop and complete a summer project, which may include assisting with developing a work instruction, checklist or other research process tool and/or assist with research protocol development.
* Assist with Institutional Review Board (IRB) submission drafting and review site documentation, including subject informed consent and initial study application.
* This is an in-office position located in Naples, FL; it is not a remote position.

Education and Experience:

* Progress towards a college degree in a related field required, preferably in Business or Health Science related. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.
* Experience with customer service, clerical and/or data management preferred.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Basic to intermediate computer skills. Be able to follow written and verbal direction.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.

Main Objective:

To facilitate and lead projects related to Arthrex sponsored clinical research activities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Provide accurate status reports and updates of assigned clinical research projects
* Facilitate data report creation to meet Arthrex and researcher goals
* Facilitate appropriate documentation to maintain compliance with the AP and Compliance department
* Facilitate clinical contract agreements between Arthrex and the Site for Arthrex initiated studies
* Assist the data management team with electronic data capture systems CRF design, eTMF design, CTMS design and user testing for assigned studies
* Audit potential research investigators to maximize Arthrex clinical research efforts
* Respond to site inquiries for study related needs
* Site training for data collection clinical research initiatives
* Facilitate preparation of pending clinical research projects for review in global research review
* Monitor data collection compliance and communicate with sites to optimize data collection compliance
* Provide the main line of communication with research sites
* Facilitate IRB approval at the site level
* Create protocols, case report forms and information packets for clinical studies
* Recruit and qualify investigators to conduct clinical research
* Initiate site start-up activities for clinical research for Arthrex sponsored studies

Education and Experience:

* Familiarity with orthopedic terminology is preferred
* 4 years' relevant clinical research experience required
* Bachelor's degree required
* One year of industry sponsor or CRO employment required

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

* Good communication, documentation, and record keeping skills are required.
* A basic ability to identify a research hypothesis and proposed outcomes measures to address the hypothesis is required
* The ability to read surgical techniques and have a basic understanding of the medical devices necessary to perform the procedure is preferred
* Ability to organize and manipulate large data sets.
* Experience managing research contracts and protocol development is preferred.

Arthrex is actively searching for a Supply Chain Buyer Planner III to join our talented team. The successful candidate will purchase goods, materials and coordinate new product launch activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Reviews MRP outputs weekly to ensure all required actions are taken - planned orders, expedites, de-expedites, cancels, etc.

2. Limits backorders of all assigned parts while communicating backorder information to internal departments.

3. Maintains and reviews Forecast vs. Actual sales for assigned products.

4. Works closely with Master Scheduler to establish delivery priorities.

5. Expedites in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules.

6. Coordinates weekly conference calls with key suppliers.

7. Distributes Engineering Change Requests to each supplier and reviews disposition of existing and in-process products. Coordinates meetings to discuss the necessary action required and the cost associated with these actions.

8. Discusses defective goods with inspection or quality control personnel, suppliers and others to determine the origin and take corrective action.

9. Coordinates new product launch activities as assigned by management.

10. Responsible for remote Purchasing/Planning at off-site locations.

11. Analyzes slow moving inventory and coordinates meetings with the individual teams to determine disposition.

12. Able to evaluate suppliers based upon price quality, service support, reliability and selection.

13. Ensures item costing is fair and reasonable. Works with each supplier to reduce costs while still maintaining quality and deliveries.

14. Works closely with Manufacturing Engineering and shop floor to improve production efficiency.

15. Reviews production schedules and determines material required or overdue.

16. Travels to offsite Suppliers to coordinate project meetings/reviews.

17. Coordinates on-site supplier visits with internal departments.

Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
* 4 years of relevant experience required. 6 years of relevant experience preferred
* Direct MRP experience required. SAP experience preferred
* Purchasing/Manufacturing/Forecasting/Sourcing/International experience strongly preferred
* Medical Device experience strongly preferred
* BI/BW or similar software experience preferred
* Project Management experience preferred
* Industry Certification preferred

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Knowledge of Supply Chain concepts and Vendor Management required. Knowledge of FDA and ISO regulations preferred.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Microsoft Office/Windows. Excel Macros/Pivot tables/VLookups strongly preferred.
