About the Role
Refactor Games is a AAA sports video game studio. We are developing the next generation of professional football (soccer) video games using Unreal Engine 5.
We are seeking a Senior UI Artist to join our team and help shape the visual identity of our game's user interface. In this role, you will create polished, intuitive, and visually cohesive UI art assets while working closely with UI/UX designers, engineers, and game designers. You'll be responsible for translating wireframes and design concepts into beautiful, functional interface elements that support gameplay clarity and enhance the overall player experience.
You'll Work On:
Create high-quality UI artwork including menus, HUD elements, frames, buttons, and other interface components.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The perfect candidate needs to be a dependable team player with a great attitude and be flexible with our fast turnarounds. They will work closely with the Flame Supervisor and VFX Producer in achieving the highest creative and technical standards of work.
MAIN DUTIES:
In this position the Flame Artist, Sr. will be working with offline edits, prepping initial conforms as needed. They will be organizing media for archiving and liaising with data services to ensure the space is managed efficiently on the Flames. Other duties include:
Adhering to tight deadlines and other constraints to meet production times.
QC and Mastering.
WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will bring extensive knowledge of working with timelines, conforming and mastering deliverables. They will bring a strong sense of compositing, color, design, and a thorough knowledge of the film industry. They will bring knowledge of file formats and compression methods. They will bring expert knowledge of cleanup, beauty work, element integration, and matte painting. They will also bring the following:
Comfortable in a client attended bay, developing creative and building rapport.
Extensive knowledge of extraction techniques of bluescreen and greenscreen.
Comprehensive knowledge of both VFX and finishing in Flame.
Nuke experience is an asset.
Knowledge of Tracking software.
Excellent understanding of techniques and technologies related to CG and compositing.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
Deliver work within established project targets and the high-quality standards of the company.
Pro-active and an excellent communicator.
Ability to thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines.

Artists in this role will work closely with a hardworking team of directors, art directors, producers, and visual development artists to visually explore and design all aspects of feature animated film projects. These may include: sets, locations, props, characters, visual effects, color and overall style.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with Directors to translate the vision for the film from concept to finished presentation. This is done through the use of drawings and paintings (including rough sketches, cleaned up renderings, tonals, sculpture and digital imagery).
Create character and environment concepts, color scripts, color keys, lighting studies, mood paintings and production illustrations.
Assist Art Director and Production Designer to bring the script to life.
Implement feedback promptly and professionally.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must exhibit proficiency in drawing (including human and animal anatomy), design, perspective, composition, painting, lighting and color theory as it pertains to feature film design.
Must be comfortable working in a variety of styles - from "cartoony" to highly realistic.
Areas of expertise to include one or more of the following: set/location/props design; character/costume design; special effects design; and/or color styling.
A solid understanding of 2D to 3D translations and hands-on use of 2D or 3D tools in your design process is helpful.
Able to solve problems creatively.
Manage time efficiently.
The ability to work creatively in a fast paced production environment under pressure.
Self motivated, good communication skills, and an excellent teammate with a phenomenal outlook.
Working knowledge of software and hardware including Photoshop and Cintiq.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $51.61/hour to $81.75/hour. This role qualifies for benefits pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors.
