The Rail Operations Leader position will report directly to the Americas Rail Systems Leader - East.
The Opportunity
Develop and support other active rail projects with respect to rail service planning and operations analysis
Support current and future rail proposals throughout North America
Develop new and maintain current relationships with key clients in the public and private sectors to develop pipeline of work
Mentor and develop junior staff from a technical perspective with some additional exposure to business development.
Oversight, quality assurance, and delivery of project rail operations analysis work for the Americas
Resource planning for Rail Operations workstreams
Mentoring staff to develop future leaders, develop junior staff skill-sets, and promote learning from successes and challenges within the rail team
Developing the technical, commercial and soft skills of rail staff

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology or Hydrogeology;

For engineers, possession of a valid Professional licensure or ability to obtain within one year;
Experience conducting Phase I, II and III environmental site assessment including drilling observation, sampling, well installation, construction/remediation oversight;
Experience performing small and large scale groundwater treatment system design, operation and maintenance, and optimization;
Experience providing litigation support services for expert witness projects, or similar;
In-depth knowledge and understanding of state and federal environmental regulations (including the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP), CERCLA and RCRA);
Experience working with state regulatory agencies;

As a Staff Geo-Structural Engineer or Staff Structural Engineer, you will be a valued team member in our Construction Design team. Our Construction Design team brings expertise in structural and geotechnical design for below-grade structures. Additionally, we support Owners, other A/E firms, heavy civil, marine, and specialty foundation contractors with temporary works necessary to build the project. In this position you will provide engineering solutions for complex projects across the nation, including all types of excavation support systems, cofferdams, deep foundations, ground improvement, retaining walls, dewatering, trestles, and other structures. You will be working in a collaborative environment, with a project team and projects that span across the country providing you with the opportunity to learn and be mentored by multiple geostructural and structural leaders in our industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for field explorations and observation of earthwork and support of excavation construction, on projects big and small, to develop an understanding of soil conditions and construction-related geostructural issues.
Complete a wide range of geostructural and structural engineering analyses and calculations.
Ensure that deliverables are submitted to the project manager in a timely manner and are completed as estimated. Independently produces detailed, accurate field reports. Assists in the production of submittals including cover letters, calculations, and construction drawings and designs with support of senior staff.
Assist with producing typical geo-structural designs such as excavation support, retaining wall, soil nail wall, slurry wall, slope stability, shallow and deep foundation, construction dewatering, work trestle, temporary shoring, etc.
Collaboratively work with project team members in making design decisions from detailed criteria provided by the senior engineer or project manager.
Assists with observation of field explorations and construction projects, ensuring that work performed is consistent with project plans and specifications as well as in accordance with safety guidelines.
Qualifications
Bachelor's in Civil Engineering required; Master's in Geotechnical or Structural Engineering preferred.
An interest and understanding of soil-structure interaction and geostructural design.
Basic understanding of CAD software packages AutoCAD/Civil3D/Revit preferred.
Proven problem-solving skills.
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification.
Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and successfully work within a team.
Professional-level verbal and written communication skills.

Valid driver's license is required.
