Position Summary
Under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner, the Respiratory Intern provides patient care limited to only those procedures that have been completed in the associated Respiratory Care school curriculum prior to being performed in the hospital patient care areas and completion of hospital competency with documentation. ESSENTIAL OPPORTUNITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Student Intern can expect to work in a diverse, clinical setting with clients that are experiencing a variety of hardships.
At the beginning of the internship, the Student Intern will receive and complete required/assigned training as well as a site-specific orientation.
A qualified, designated Clinical Supervisor will serve as a resource and will be responsible to timely provide all necessary documentation and coordination with the affiliated university. The Clinical Supervisor will meet all requirements under OAR 309-019-0125.
The Student Intern, with the Clinical Supervisor, develops goals for the internship (Student Scope of Practice and Education Agreement), identifying areas of particular interest to the intern, as well as goals related to the competencies of the profession. These goals will be reviewed and updated throughout the internship at least every 3 months to evaluate progress towards goals, identification of deficiencies, and development of a plan to address any deficiencies.
The Student Intern will participate in a variety of shadowing opportunities with the entire outpatient team, including other program offerings to learn the entire array of services provided based on the program site, which may include case management, psychiatric management, providing therapy, medication-supported recovery, MOMs program, and substance use/mental health counseling and therapy.
After completing the shadowing opportunities and being approved by the Clinical Supervisor, the Student Intern will begin practicing therapy/case management on their own for a small caseload, under continuing supervision.
The Student Intern will be provided the designated weekly supervision, as well as individually and in group settings with the clinical team. Weekly, 1-hour, individual supervision will include but is not limited to the review of cases relating to the:
Diagnosing and making appropriate treatment recommendations
Developing service plans and setting goals for treatment
Termination of therapy services, review of documentation to ensure appropriate, thorough, and accurate documentation, and coding of services
Opportunities will be provided for observation through provision of direct clinical services under supervision;
Opportunities will be provided to learn about other aspects of their profession including, but not limited to, burnout and compassion fatigue, self-care, theoretical orientations/interventions, proper documentation in EHR (Electronic Health Records), transference and countertransference, boundaries, legal considerations, and testifying in court, etc.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: St. Charles Health System Diagnostic Imaging Departments perform X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, and PET/CT exams in a variety of locations. We work closely with our partners at Cascade Medical Imaging to meet the imaging needs of our community and to support the ED, OR, Inpatient Floors, and Family Birthing Center.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Non-Certified General Radiologic Technologist at St. Charles Health System performs all Radiographic studies, and related procedures at a technical level requiring indirect supervision in accordance with established department and hospital guidelines. The non-certified technologist may only operate the applicable medical imaging modality under the indirect supervision of a licensed physician, or an individual licensed by the Board and credentialed by a credentialing organization in the medical imaging modality identified on the temporary license. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Under indirect supervision:
Performs General Radiology examinations in accordance with department policies, procedures, and protocols.
Follows Health and Safety Policies and Procedures of quality patient care.
Works as a collaborative member of the health care team including clinicians, nurses and other health care professionals in diagnostic testing procedures such as fluoroscopy, trauma, and surgery
Performs clerical duties, transports patients as required and maintains proper inventory of supplies.
Assists in record maintenance and statistics as requested.
Assists with special projects as requested.
Maintains competent skills working with Nighthawk System.

Delivers customer service and/or patient care in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient, and accurate.
May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.
EDUCATION:
Required: High school diploma or GED. Must be graduate eligible of a certified radiologic technology training program.

Internship Details

Compensation:
External interns may receive a stipend of $150 per week if permitted by their school agreement.

Qualifications
Must be currently enrolled in a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Master's or Doctoral program.
Must pass state-required criminal background and DMV checks, possess a valid driver's license, and have a safe driving record.
Must pass a pre-placement 10-panel drug screen.
