 PowerVAL significantly expands the functionality of Ascend's market-leading energy project valuation tool to encompass solar, storage, wind, hybrid and thermal projects across the US and Europe. PowerVAL provides developers, investors, and utilities with bankable and regulatory accepted wholesale and retail price forecasts. Utilizing 20+ year nodal sub-hourly price forecasts produced by the Market Intelligence team, PowerVAL software determines the value of projects at specific locations by performing comprehensive dispatch simulations and optimizing system operations to match our customers' specific use cases.


 Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions

 Lead quantitative analysis and work to deliver on-time results to clients
 </li>
</ul>

 <li>
 Provide clients with expertise in the areas of analytic modeling for revenue forecasts and asset valuation, risk management, and renewable integration
 </li>
</ul>
<ul>
 <li>
 Devise new approaches to represent results that provide support for decision analysis
 </li>
</ul>
<ul>
 <li>
 Assimilate complex information into readily understood reports and presentations
 </li>
</ul>
<ul>
 <li>
 Perform in-depth analysis of power market operations
 </li>
</ul>
<ul>
 <li>
 Solve complex analytic problems to make mission critical decisions for energy supply
 </li>
</ul>
<ul>
 <li>
 Serve as a technical resource for scoping, building, deploying, and launch activities
 </li>
</ul>

 Required Skills and Knowledge

<ul>
 <li>
 1+ years prior experience (5+ years of prior work experience for a Senior Analyst) in energy with a utility, consulting firm, government, or non-profit with a focus on energy.
 </li>
</ul>
<ul>
 <li>
 Understanding of energy modeling system and methods
 </li>
</ul>
<ul>
 <li>
 Command of wholesale power market structures and value streams
 </li>
</ul>
<ul>
 <li>
 Demonstrated track record of working with clients and team
 </li>
</ul>
<ul>
 <li>
 Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication, teamwork skills, organization and work ethic
 </li>
</ul>
<ul>
 <li>
 Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and problem solve with minimum supervision
 </li>
</ul>
<ul>
 <li>
 Strong analytical skills in analyzing and explaining complex data
 </li>
</ul>

 Education & Experience

<ul>
 <li>
 Master's or PhD; advanced degrees in economics, engineering, and energy preferred
 </li>
</ul>
<ul>
 <li>
 Proficiency with analytic software programming (R, Python or other languages) preferred
 </li>
</ul>
<ul>
 <li>
 Previous experience in project management
 </li>
</ul>
<ul>
 <li>
 Knowledge of deregulated power markets operations and/or DER programs
 </li>
</ul>

 Compensation


 $80,000 - $95,000 - Energy Analyst


 $95,000 - $125,000 - Senior Analyst


 Negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Ascend highly values our employees and often pays above industry average.
