    The Forest Stewardship Education Initiative educates forest landowners to better understand, manage and protect their forests (pre and post-fire) by developing a forest management plan, engage with natural resource professionals, and take advantage of cost-share opportunities that can help them meet their management goals. The Forest Stewardship Community Education Specialist uses professional, adult community educational program concepts to deliver standardized educational workshops to private, non-industrial, private forest landowners throughout California and applies established procedures and programs to address landowner and program participant needs. Program delivery methods include a mix of online and in-person formats. Workshops focus on helping landowners become better forest stewards by helping them learn about forestry, forest management and post-fire forest resilience. The Forest Stewardship Community Education Specialist utilizes standard practices in analyzing program content and delivery needs and determining effectiveness of current programs. They will also assist in writing materials and helping to disseminate information through multiple platforms and help maintain and improve various websites. The Forest Stewardship Community Education Specialist collaborates with members of the UC Forestry Workgroup. The CES will need to illustrate a strong ability to work independently and connect their work to program goals. This position is a contract appointment that is 100% fixed. The home department for this position is ANR Fire Network. While this position normally is based in Santa Rosa, CA, this position is eligible for hybrid flexible work arrangements for applicants living in the State of California at this time.
