Job Description: Job Family Definition: In a typical day, a Presales Consultant -Technical Architect will: Configure hardware clusters for HPC & AI workloads using your knowledge of Infiniband and Ethernet networking. Applies advanced knowledge of company hardware products and infrastructure solutions as well as customers' business and technical environment to translate the functional view into a technical view and architect complex solutions that can be scaled to accommodate growth. Responsible for architecting solutions that will achieve customer business outcomes either within a specific technical domain, or across the broader company portfolio (hardware, software, services, and as a service offerings) in combination with all necessary third-party components (e.g. software and integration). Develops and articulates compelling, accurate, and relevant proposals and ensures customer's business and technical requirements are met. Can be aligned to a specific area of technical expertise (e.g., products, solutions, services). Provides technical expertise to sales teams and customers (through sales presentations, product/solution demonstrations, etc.) aimed at gaining the customer mindshare within their domain. These jobs focus on technical selling to customers/partners. May be aligned to specific accounts based on business priority. Management Level Definition: Contributions impact technical components of HPE products, solutions, or services regularly and sustainable. Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Provides expertise and partnership to functional and technical project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for achieving objectives. May provide team leadership and mentoring to others. Responsibilities: Lead presales technical engagements: gather requirements, translate business outcomes into functional and technical architectures, and present proposals to customers and partners. Architect end-to-end HPC/AI infrastructure: compute/GPU nodes, storage, interconnects, orchestration, monitoring, and management. Design and validate high-performance networking for east-west and north-south traffic (InfiniBand and high-speed Ethernet); size interconnects and topology for GPU-accelerated workloads. Create detailed BOMs, rack elevations, cable/power plans, PDU layouts, and facility-fit analyses (power, cooling, rack density, liquid cooling considerations). Build and run POCs/demos, run benchmarks, tune systems, and document results and recommendations. Prepare technical content for RFI/RFP responses, risk assessments, and implementation plans. Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, engineering, product management, services, and partners to ensure deliverability and commercial alignment. Mentor junior presales engineers and maintain reusable presales collateral and demonstration playbooks. Represent the organization at customer sites, partner labs, and industry events as required. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, with demonstrated hands‑on work on HPC/AI clusters. Proven experience designing and validating GPU‑accelerated clusters (NVIDIA preferred) including compute/node sizing, networking (InfiniBand and high‑speed Ethernet), and storage considerations. Demonstrable facility‑level skills: producing BOMs, rack elevations, power/cooling/PDUs and cabling plans, and performing facility‑fit assessments (rack density, liquid cooling, P2P cabling). Hands‑on POC and performance validation experience (benchmarking/tuning) plus scripting/automation skills (Python, Bash, or similar) is a plus Strong written/verbal communication for customer deliverables. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with cluster schedulers and storage (Slurm, PBS, Lustre, Weka, Vast). Experience with vendor reference architectures (e.g., NVIDIA NCP), orchestration (Kubernetes for AI), or hybrid cloud HPC integrations. Prior presales experience: RFI/RFP responses, proposals, and customer-facing demos. Relevant industry certifications (networking, storage, or vendor-specific). Nice-to-Have Benchmarking and performance tuning for AI training/inference. Experience with systems integrators, OEMs, or hyperscale data-center environments. The Systems Administrator III is responsible for implementing and supporting cloud services across a variety of computing environments. Responsibilities include integrating third-party Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) providers into multi-vendor environments, managing, and reviewing cloud resources to ensure availability, and troubleshooting technical issues for various departments. Managing directory services and related cloud identity resources, as well as administering and troubleshooting server environments across virtualization and cloud platforms. The Systems Administrator III also supports IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) and PaaS (Platform as a Service) for campus divisions and departments, administers the campus-wide cloud environment, and assists with backup and disaster recovery tasks. Coordinate with campus technicians on upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting, and arrange scheduled downtime as needed. Plans, tests, and deploys cloud applications to ensure performance and reliability. Other duties as assigned. JOB SUMMARY Northeastern University is seeking a collaborative, innovative, and consultative senior digital solutions analyst to support the activation, diffusion, and ongoing support of AI programs, platforms, and training across the university. Reporting to the deputy CIO and associate vice president, engagement and experience, this role blends business analysis, digital solutions engineering, consulting, and platform/product ownership to drive successful adoption and integration of AI technologies-including Copilot, Claude, and other AI-embedded tools-into administrative and academic workflows. The senior digital solutions analyst will work directly with staff, faculty, and students to understand their needs, design and implement AI-enabled solutions, and provide training and enablement to maximize impact. This role is a bridge between end-users and IT, ensuring that AI solutions are user-centered, effective, and continuously improved. 24/7 business continuity: This role requires availability outside of traditional working hours on a rotating basis to ensure continuous operation of critical AI systems and platforms. Responsibilities include monitoring system health, responding to alerts, troubleshooting performance issues, and implementing emergency fixes as needed. The ideal candidate must be able to quickly diagnose and resolve AI system and platform incidents, prioritize issues based on business impact, and coordinate with technical teams to restore service. Other duties as required: This role requires flexibility in performing duties outside of the primary responsibilities to support the evolving AI ecosystem at the university.
