The Strategic Sourcing Buyer is a key member of the Procurement Operations organization and is responsible for securing the supply of over 300 raw materials, which go into the manufacture of nylon and engineered plastics at several Ascend manufacturing sites and third-party tolling locations. The Strategic Sourcing Buyer plays a key role in implementing sourcing agreements into actual supply and supporting the uninterrupted execution of the production plan. In this role, the Strategic Sourcing Buyer coordinates deliveries with raw material suppliers, balancing the material requirements set by Supply Chain and the lean stockholding targets set by the Company.
TARGETED OUTCOMES
Ensuring continued supply of raw materials and preventing stock-outs that may interrupt production due to material availability is a key outcome.
Adopt and support the existing inventory management process implemented by Procurement Operations, which is based on continually monitoring inventory levels in SAP and Tableau, as well as, maintaining planning inputs specific to each material and supplier, e.g., lead times, service levels, order sizes.
Take an A2E approach to continuous improvement of the planning function, driving toward automation of transactional tasks, error-proofing existing processes, and influencing the sites to maintain or improve existing materials management processes on which planning relies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Owner of strategic planning process for Raw Materials, endeavor to refine and improve process as organization matures and is able to support more robust and sophisticated planning tools such as MRP in SAP
Determine material requirements using available planning tools such as SAP, Tableau, and demand forecasts to ensure these are relevant and accurate
Responsible for ordering raw materials to support production in accordance with sourcing strategies developed by Commodity Managers
Maintain Outline Agreements
Create and issue Purchase Orders, make changes and close out as needed
Responsible to develop and execute inventory strategies to optimize working capital, support cash flow targets and avoid stock outs of critical materials
Meet frequently with internal customers (Category Managers, Production & Planning personnel) to validate/update material requirements
Visit Ascend sites periodically to build and maintain positive relationships with Commodity Managers and internal customers
Notify Commodity Managers and internal customers of any issues related to materials planning, i.e. late delivery, possible inventory shortage or stock out
Coordinate plant to plant transfers of raw materials
Track OTD, premium freight and other supplier quality KPIs and actively participate in monthly supplier quality meetings
Ensure ISO certifications on file for required suppliers
Support the closeout of SCARs with suppliers related to delivery performance, paperwork, and service issues.
Work with Accounts Payables department and supplier to resolve invoice issues related to quantity, escalate price discrepancies to appropriate Commodity Manager
Support Direct Materials team as needed with new vendor set ups, price updates, and other related activities
Collaborate with Direct Materials team to identify and implement cost savings opportunities related to material movements and inventory management
Support A2E improvement efforts related to this role

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
3 years minimum experience working with manufacturing, supply chain or logistics operations
Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, information systems or other related degree preferred
2 years minimum experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) system - SAP preferred
Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred

The Site Procurement Lead is a key member of the Indirect Procurement organization situated directly at one of Ascend's plants, serving as a link between procurement and the business units. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage business spend by ensuring programs and contracts are implemented in an effective and efficient manner which both meet the customer's needs and the guidelines of the procurement organization. Additionally, they will be a member of the Site Leadership Team and lead cross functional spend teams to drive savings by identifying changes in consumption patterns which support negotiated programs.
The Site Procurement Lead will advise and assist as a subject matter expert to the business on behalf of the procurement organization for the full lifecycle (sourcing and selecting suppliers, establishing contracts, purchasing and managing payments to suppliers). The Site Procurement Lead will also serve as the intake specialist at designated locations, evaluating and directing internal employee purchase requests and assisting the Procurement organization in directing those requests to contracted or designated suppliers.

Manage supplier relationships, driving on-time and on-budget performance that meet or exceed the needs of the business and improve plant performance to plan.
Contribute to the efficiency and improvement of the organization by identifying, resolving, and eliminating issues.
Partner with key internal site stakeholders in operations, manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, reliability, and facilities groups to develop strategic supplier relationships and manage supplier performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sourcing Planning and Spend Management
Assist and advise business on use and implementation of negotiated programs that are either site specific or strategically executed by the Commodity Management group.
Negotiate site specific labor, service and materials contracts utilizing market data local to the area.
Identify and drive savings by reviewing current use of programs and bringing them to the procurement organization standards.
Analyze historical and current spend data to find opportunities for negotiation or organizational leverage, while reporting trends to Commodity Management team to assist with identifying Enterprise-wide opportunities for savings.
Work closely with team of site-specific Buyers and Purchase Order Specialists to identify areas where volume leverage purchase mechanisms can be utilized.
Enforce and ensure bidding process is carried out in alignment with procurement guidelines.
Analyze key local indirect materials and labor markets and spend data to identify cost savings/productivity opportunities.
Direct site-specific purchase order execution and manage product/service delivery, including placement of on-time schedule agreements, mitigation of billing adjustments / terminations and execution of cost reduction goals.
Review bids and contracts with Site Stakeholders, Commodity Managers and Area Job Representatives as necessary before strategic orders are placed.
May recommend new developments in materials and supplies, as well as service providers.
Engage with the site stakeholders to ensure procurement involvement in sourcing and supplier selection while making robust recommendations for utilization of recommended vendors and reporting of data to demonstrate opportunities for improvement
Supplier Management
Manage various aspects of supplier relationships, including negotiations, delivery and quality performance, cost and inventory management, and customer satisfaction.
Establish and maintain timely/direct communication with suppliers to manage operational needs, lead time and deliverables.
Implement corrective actions to improve supplier performance when necessary.
Proactive and comprehensive supplier performance management; e.g. safety, quality, scheduling and delivery, cost control, performance to established KPIs.
Lead supplier quality audits.
Utilize the DMAIC process to optimize supplier performance with focus on Total Cost of Ownership.
Lead special projects as identified by management.
Foster active daily use of continuous improvement tools to improve ESSH, quality, delivery, financial performance, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction.
Conduct all business activities in accordance with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, legal compliance requirements and core values.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, finance, or engineering and a minimum of six years of relevant purchasing and resource management experience.
Experience with strategic sourcing, contract administration, supply chain management, logistics, and commercial project planning preferred.
Solid understanding of procurement policies, procedures, and techniques.
Experience working in an ERP environment; SAP and GEP experience highly desirable.

Position Overview
Based in Diboll, Texas the R&D laboratory, Technical Service Representative will support projects from an application and technical perspective targeting the North American Market for the Plywood/LVL, OSB and other phenolic based applications. As a BASF Shift Supervisor you will work directly with the Site Manager and Plant Manager assisting in the day-to-day operations of the de-linting and packaging as well as shipping and receiving in the warehouse located at the Erskine Site in Lubbock, Texas. Key emphasis will be placed on achieving daily, weekly, and yearly production goals set forth by cotton seed supply while producing a high-quality product within a safe work environment. Day-to-day communication to direct reports is critical to achieving these goals.
****During your shift as a Shift Supervisor, you will****
* Oversee day-to-day operations in the packaging and de-linting plant.
* Operate in accordance with and maintain all safety rules and regulations as set forth by BASF and plant management.
* Review and confirm information reported is correct and accurate.
* Troubleshoot equipment issues and manage repairs accordingly.
* Oversee maintenance plans during the off-season months.
* Facilitate the processing of seed conditioning in the absence of administrative support and become a key user for SAP seed conditioning.
* Lead Shift in inventory counts of chemicals, bags, and raw goods, seed count and packaging operations, variety cleanouts to meet SOP's, and monitor quality of seed (immatures, cracks, and seed color and seed treatments).
* Minimun of High School Diploma or GDE (bachelor's Degree preferred).
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, seed production, ginning and seed conditioning, or relevant farm/mechanical experience.
* Knowledge of OSHA's PSM regulatory requirements and nowledge of SAP, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
* Knowledge and adherence of Safety (Responsible Care Preferred), Stewardship, and Quality Management systems.
* Leadership experience, employee development,employee training.
* Lean, Six Sigma, Operational Excellence certification (preferred)
