We are seeking a Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) Contractor to drive semiconductor laser design and manufacturing excellence through the development and deployment of AI/ML within production. The emphasis will be on yield improvement, screening accuracy, and design optimization. The MLOps Contractor will develop and validate models based on extensive production data and deploy scalable models through a combination of cloud-based infrastructure and on-premises high performance inference. This position represents a unique opportunity to make an impactful contribution to the laser manufacturing industry and to pioneer AI/ML integration across Coherent international manufacturing sites. About Indium Phosphide (InP) Technology The world's communications infrastructure depends on semiconductor lasers, and particularly those based on indium phosphide technology. Indium phosphide lasers are engineered to emit at wavelengths that are optimal for long-distance transmission through fiber optics. In short, they enable the optical networks that form the global internet. Coherent's broad portfolio of InP components includes application-specific Fabry-Pérot lasers, directly modulated lasers (DMLs), and tunable lasers. It also includes photodiodes for high-speed receivers and power monitoring. In 2022, we introduced 200 Gbps indium phosphide electro-absorption modulated lasers (EMLs) for high-speed datacenter transceivers. This design provides our customers with the most advanced, robust, and cost-competitive laser devices for their 800G and next-gen 1.6T datacom transceiver designs. Our world-class and highly reliable InP technology platform is one of the very few in the industry that has been proven, with more than one hundred million lasers in the field deployed over the last decades. The position is for support and maintenance of Aixtron G4 MOCVD reactors running InP and GaAs processes. The maintenance technician carries out routine maintenance of the reactors and all support systems, including chemical source changes, vacuum system maintenance, robotic wafer handler maintenance, chamber cleans, exhaust abatement system maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of subsystem faults. Additionally, training of other equipment technicians in these routine tasks is required. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Provide application, test, and quality support for key customers in the San Francisco Bay Area/Silicon Valley for Coherent's optical communications products, primarily optical transceivers/transponders/active optical cables for fiber optic networking. Support customer qualifications of Coherent products. Emphasis on handling issues associated with meeting customer performance and reliability requirements. Engage in discussion with customers and respond to direct technical inquiries Drive customer product test and reliability requirements through the internal Coherent organization Write Application Notes and white papers relevant to product application and test and for sales and customer distribution Prepare and deliver product application presentations to customers and internal organization as appropriate Analyze customer specifications and establish gap analyses Provide customer system design feedback to both marketing and engineering Provide occasional technical and customer support at trade shows as needed Work as a team member with other FAEs worldwide Some travel may be required as global conditions permit Education & Experience Bachelors degree in engineering/sciences preferred • Minimum of 7 years in the communications industry with working experience in technical positions • Customer-facing experience a plus • Problem solving skills related to electronic/electrical, mechanical, and/or photonics products Skills Good communication and interpersonal skills Computer literate education and experience w/ Microsoft products, Oracle, Salesforce Can work independently and within a team environment Familiarity with networking equipment including work with optical transceivers is a plus Working Conditions Normal office conditions, during customer site visits may be exposed to some dust, some level of noise, etc. Physical Requirements Must be able to do occasional light lifting (max 25 lbs) Safety Requirements All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. ASML/Brion brings together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop computational lithography software to enable customers on the best process window enhancement solution for the next generation HighNA EUV scanner, as well as best process window control solution to mitigate the process variation during the scanner operation, providing holistic solution for advanced nodes in semi-conductor industries. Your Assignment: * Feasibility study of advanced imaging for ASML scanner application, including study the Imaging impact with Illumination, Mask correction, Aberration, Overlay and Mirror/lens heating. * Design software component to support customer's request on Process Window Enhancement and Process Window Control for ASML scanner application * Perform qualification test, lead wafer validation and generate proof data, provide training slides, user guide and other technical documents. * Work with local application engineer to support customer activity, promoting ASML scanner and application adoption. The hired candidate must possess all of the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for the position including: * Currently pursuing Master's or PhD., degree in Optics, EE/ME, Physic with experience in optical design, lithography, semiconductor/EDA industry * Solid understanding of Fourier Optics Imaging and Abbe/Hopkin Imaging Theory * Knowledge/hands-on experience with simulation software/technical tools (i.e. python, MATLAB, etc.) Experience with rigorous optical simulation is a plus (FDTD, RCWA) * Soft skill requirements (i.e. strong English communication skills - both written and oral, ability to influence, etc.). * knowledge of data analytics and machine learning. * Knowledge in optimization theory, including Convex optimization theory and gradient based optimization. The California base annual salary / hourly range for this role is currently $25 - $56/hr. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data.
