    The Aspen School District is seeking a dedicated ASL Interpreter to join the Strudent Services Department. ASL Interpreter Department: Student Services Reports to: Director of Student Services Classification: Classified Full-time Non-exempt/Hourly Contract Period: 9 Month (185 days with some variance depending on the year) Compensation: $32.27 to $40.12/hour depending on experience SY2025-26 ASL Interpreter Salary Schedule ASD offers district-funded employee and dependent health benefits including medical, vision, dental, and life insurance to benefit-eligible employees. Position Summary The ASL Interpreter works directly with children in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, assists student(s) with interpreting and communicating with basic American Sign Language, and assists the teachers in implementing the instructional program. Position Responsibilities ASL Interpreter Responsibilities: * Assist student(s) with interpreting and communication with basic American Sign Language * Facilitate ASL communication in behalf of student(s) * Collaborate and consult with the site principals, teachers, and related service personnel to plan, organize, and implement specific assignments and activities in accordance with IEP goals and providing and/or modifying instruction/curriculum * Follow daily schedules and school procedures, as well as implement student programming, as directed by cooperating teachers and administrators under the direction of the teacher. * Monitor student behavior, intervening when appropriate and supporting the student while working individually or in small groups * Assist the teacher with student behavior management strategies, including appropriate response and measures * Maintain accurate documentation of activities, student progress, and behavior modification plans * Help design and implement communication tools that allow for good information exchange * Participate in professional development/continuing education programs as required/recommended by the school administrator and/or Director of Student Services * May assist student(s) with personal care needs and assist with minor first aid as appropriate. * Perform other related duties as assigned or requested Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Knowledge of: * Professional oral and written communication norms and standards * Basic American Sign Language * Basic and modern office procedures and methods * Principles and procedures of record-keeping and reporting * Word processing, databases, and computer software * Microsoft Office and/or the Google Suite of office software * Ability to: * Demonstrate responsibility and consistency of attendance required for work with students * Work with efficiency with attention to detail * Demonstrate flexibility for the environment that may require a change of schedule and/or student activities * Maintain confidentiality of information * Work cooperatively with administrators and staff * Observe all district policies and procedures * Observe all general safety rules, carefully observing correct lifting procedures * Communicate clearly and concisely in English both orally and in writing aking; * Maintain high ethical standards, legal responsibility, and confidentiality. Minimum Qualifications * ASL - English Interpreting Certificate * High School Diploma or equivalent * Operation and use of modern office equipment including a computer, printer/copier and various software packages * Valid Colorado driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire. * Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire Preferred Qualifications * Three years or more of relevant experience in sign language interpreting and special education in a classroom environment Work Environment * Classroom setting * Office environment; exposure to computer screens * Mostly clean and comfortable surroundings * Exposure to noise and bodily fluids Essential Physical Requirements * Physical: Reaching, walking, standing, sitting, typing, talking, crouching, kneeling, occasional climbing and crawling, seeing, and hearing. Psycho-Educational and Behavioral Assessment * Conduct comprehensive psycho-educational evaluations for eligibility, including cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and adaptive functioning assessments as required by state and federal regulations. * Conduct in-depth Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to hypothesize the function of challenging behavior and inform the development of data-driven Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). * Utilize advanced data collection and analysis methodologies from ABA to monitor intervention fidelity and student progress, making real-time adjustments as needed. * Integrate findings from both psychological and behavioral assessments to provide a holistic profile of the student's needs. III. Consultation, Collaboration, and Training * Consult with teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians to interpret assessment results and develop effective, integrated academic, mental health, and behavioral strategies. * Provide ongoing, in-depth training and coaching for teachers, paraprofessionals, and RBTs (Registered Behavior Technicians) on the consistent implementation of BIPs, ABA techniques, and effective classroom management strategies. * Actively participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings, presenting both psychological and behavioral assessment data and developing legally compliant and functionally meaningful goals. * Provide clinical supervision to behavior analysts (e.g., BCaBAs) and fieldwork supervisees in accordance with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) standards. * Collaborate with community mental health and private providers to ensure continuity of care and a coordinated approach for students.
