Completes all supervisory visits, comprehensive assessment/reassessment visits per Agency policy, federal and state rules, and documenting the visits. Conducts coordination of care between direct care staff, and external providers. Serves as liaison between this Agency and physicians, hospitals, and other agencies regarding patient care. Provides positive attitude and example of professional behavior for direct care staff. Provides orientation and competency verification of direct care staff. Provides direct, in field, supervision of newly hired clinicians and assures supervision of all staff is completed per regulations and agency policy including documentation of same. Provides direct response and guidance to staff for problem resolution in patient care. Provides information and reports to Director of Clinical Services/Administrator as instructed. Participates, as requested, in orientation of new staff, in-service education, continuing education, utilization review and QAPI programs. Participates in/attends staff development activities and in-service meetings to educate the personnel. Provides training and in-services to agency direct care staff on the following, but not limited to, topics required by state licensure, clinical services, rules and regulations, agency policies and expectations. Serves as a member of the administrative on-call team. Responsible to complete on-call logs and assure follow up completed and documented. Participates, as assigned by Administrator, on compilation of data for the annual agency evaluation and/or quarterly governing body review reports #L1-LS1

Department General & Trauma Surgeons Job Summary The Pediatric Trauma Medical Director (PTMD) is the Trauma Surgeon who has been assigned by the hospital executive leadership and the Department of Surgery Director of Service to lead the multidisciplinary activities of the Pediatric Trauma Program. The role of the PTMD will be to pursue and continuously maintain the full development of the trauma center in terms of quality of care, volume, scope of services and cost-effectiveness, education, research, and to organize and manage the overall physician/surgeon component of the trauma service. This position will be associated with administrative time for the Pediatric Trauma Medical Director role. The remaining FTE will be clinical. As an institution, Denver Health is a nationally recognized integrated health care system which includes: a Level 1 trauma center, a large network of community health centers, the city and county public health department, the city-wide advanced life support EMS agency (Denver Paramedics) and a regional poison control center. We are an academic affiliate of the University of Colorado and all faculty hired at Denver Health are appointed a faculty rank commensurate with experience. . The Denver Health Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is a twenty-three-bed intensive care unit staffed by surgeons who are board certified in surgical critical care. Patient acuity is high and involves derangement of multiple organ system simultaneously. Attending on both trauma and SICU services involves serving as faculty for both our Trauma and Acute Care Surgery and Surgical Critical Care Fellowships. The Emergency General Surgery (EGS) Service at Denver Health performs over 1,000 operations annually, maintains an average daily census of fourteen patients, and spans all aspects and scope within this field. The EGS service is currently attended by seven trauma surgeons, two general surgeons, and our two, second years TACS fellows. The service engages in classic EGS, as well as emerging techniques such as minimally invasive treatments of diverticulitis and perforated peptic ulcers, endo luminal stents and vacuum therapy (endo-VAC), and laparoscopic, trans cystic common bile duct clearance. Other areas of focus include esophageal perforation, management of bariatric complications (in conjunction with our accredited bariatric center), and both thoracic and lumbar spine exposure.. Denver Health serves as a satellite site for several fellowships, residency programs, and medical schools; education of residents is a core responsibility of our surgical faculty. The pediatric surgeon will diagnose and provide operative care for a variety of illnesses, diseases, and health conditions in young patients. Essential Duties: Clinical Oversight & Program Leadership * Provide medical leadership for center's prescribing staff, including Psychiatrists and Advanced Practice Nurses. * Supervise associate medical directors, nurse managers, and assigned clinical directors and managers, ensuring coverage, quality, and coordination across programs. * Lead clinical evaluations and consults for admissions, including infectious disease screening and medical appropriateness assessments. * Co-lead Critical Incident Review Committee and Clinical Reviews to ensure quality medical and clinical services are provided. * Review and approve referrals for potential clients on Emergency Commitments, Involuntary Commitments, and Short- term Certifications with Court Ordered Meds. * Support implementation of evidence-based practices, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), trauma-informed care, Zero-Suicide initiative, outcomes measures including measurement-based care, and harm reduction strategies. Regulatory & Compliance * Ensure adherence to Behavioral Health Administration rules, Colorado Department of Human Services/Residential Child Care Facility licensure requirements and Volume 7 regulations, including staff adherence to required training, including CPR, First Aid, and Qualified Medication Administration Personnel training. * Collaborate with HR and program directors to embed compliance into hiring and auditing workflows including personnel file documentation and required pre-employment physicals. * Lead efforts to update and align medical and nursing documentation, policies, and naming conventions to match agency-wide requirements. Operational Strategy & Innovation * Co-lead development of workflows that improve access to medical services and streamline admissions, including direct admit protocols and prescreening tools. * Partner with community stakeholders to address barriers to care and enhance referral pathways. * Contribute to Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), analyzing census, revenue, and staffing metrics to drive performance improvements. Technology & Systems * Ensure integration of medical workflows into systems like Avatar and key performance indicator dashboards. * Ensure all medical staff are properly trained in the use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and are adhering to the documentation requirements as set forth in Rule, Statute and Jefferson Center Policies & Procedures. Collaboration & Communication * Serve as a liaison between medical services and Senior Leadership Team, participating in SLT meetings, strategic planning. * Collaborate with Clinical Services, Operations, Finance and Business Development to align medical priorities with organizational goals. * Represent medical services in regulatory communications and community engagement efforts.
