Responsibilities
Role Expectations and Competencies
As an Asphalt Roller Operator you may perform any combination of tasks to assist on a wide variety of construction sites. This position performs a wide variety of duties and tasks that often require them to assist other.

Assist in the preparation of sites, unloading, loading, and moving construction materials, and clearing debris and hazards
Perform pre work equipment inspection, and submit proper inspection report per company policies.
Prepare equipment as needed for daily activities. Top off fluids, grease, fill water tanks, etc.
Stage equipment on site in preparation of work commencing.
With Foreman direction operate either breakdown or finish roller.
Monitors rolling temperature and works within temperature best suited for material being laid.
Determine rolling drum mode.
Have a thorough understanding of material thickness, type of material being laid, and material temperature for determining rolling range.
Make frequency and amplitude adjustments depending on mix design, material thickness, temperature zone, and density.
Optimize water systems controls to avoid material pickup and eliminate excessive water usage.
Establish rolling pattern and determine paving width, roller drum width, drum overlap, and paver speed.
Works with density technician to make sure density requirements are being achieved.
Communicate with paving crew on any flaws in material or finished mat.
Understand proper techniques for rolling transverse joints.
Recognize flow lines and inverts.
Try to minimize roller marks.
Works with paving crew with hand rolling, plate compactor work, manholes and catch basins.
Help trim edge lines and pickup excess asphalt material.
Upon completion of day, cleanup all tools, aid in the cleanup of equipment, and cleanup site.
Direct traffic near construction sites when necessary to ensure the safety of workers and the public, including set up and maintenance of cones, barricades and safety fencing
Strong commitment to attendance and punctuality a must.

Qualifications And Requirements
Experience in asphalt and roller operations or a related field 3-5 years' experience
OSHA 10 certification preferred but not required
Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Ability to walk, stand, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, sit, climb, work in challenging environments and on uneven surfaces, and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials (up to 50 pounds).

Position Overview
Person is responsible for the daily operation of the HMA batch or drum plant. Individual shall interact with customers, paving fore-people, aggregate and AC drivers. Plant operator shall be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the HMA operation on a daily basis. Individual will also perform repair and maintenance duties that include cutting, welding and metal fabrication.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Assist the plant foreperson with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant.
Inspect and perform maintenance on plant parts, including:
ability to access bottom and upper baghouse to inspect and change bags
ability to access dryer to inspect, maintain, and replace dryer flights
ability to inspect and clean burner tip and nozzle
ability to perform other maintenance related duties on-site as required by supervisors
Ability to maintain and operate front end loaders
Ability to access all areas of the plant to perform necessary maintenance and repairs
Knowledge all applicable regulations affecting asphalt plant production, safety environmental, state, federal, and company policies; ensure observance of such regulations; and ensure compliance with all regulations and permit conditions
Must be competent with computers and have a thorough knowledge of window based programs
Perform welding, fabrication and electrical duties as required
Ability to detect safety hazards and malfunctions and respond accordingly
Ability to follow directions
Must be able to accurately complete daily paperwork which includes plant production reports, material produced and sales reports and nightly deposits from cash customers

Set up paver screed and sensors based on job specs, including mat thickness and slope
Work closely with the roller operator and ground crew to ensure a consistent, even mat
Perform pre-operation inspections, light maintenance, and cleaning of the paver daily
Understand project layouts, grades, transitions, and compaction requirements
Maintain smooth paving operations by communicating with dump truck drivers and flaggers
Ensure quality control by monitoring mix temperature, texture, and flow

What You Bring
2+ years of experience operating a commercial asphalt paver (e.g., Vogele, Caterpillar, LeeBoy, Roadtec, etc.)
Proven experience on commercial paving jobs such as parking lots, subdivisions, city streets, or tennis courts
Strong understanding of paving best practices including joint matching, grade control, and mat finish
Ability to read and understand paving plans and grade stakes
Familiarity with electronic screed controls and grade automation systems a plus

Position Overview
Person is responsible for the daily operation of the HMA batch or drum plant. Individual shall interact with customers, paving fore-people, aggregate and AC drivers. Plant operator shall be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the HMA operation on a daily basis. Individual will also perform repair and maintenance duties that include cutting, welding and metal fabrication.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Assist the plant foreperson with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant.
* Inspect and perform maintenance on plant parts, including:
* ability to access bottom and upper baghouse to inspect and change bags
* ability to access dryer to inspect, maintain, and replace dryer flights
* ability to inspect and clean burner tip and nozzle
* ability to perform other maintenance related duties on-site as required by supervisors
* Ability to maintain and operate front end loaders
* Ability to access all areas of the plant to perform necessary maintenance and repairs
* Knowledge all applicable regulations affecting asphalt plant production, safety environmental, state, federal, and company policies; ensure observance of such regulations; and ensure compliance with all regulations and permit conditions
* Must be competent with computers and have a thorough knowledge of window based programs
* Perform welding, fabrication and electrical duties as required
