The Emergency Shelter Contract Worker is responsible for ensuring the safety, stability, and smooth operation of the Aspire Indiana Health operated Winter Contingency Shelter sites. This is a contract role through Aspire Indiana Health and will provide direct, compassionate support to residents.
The Emergency Shelter Contract Worker's role will be part time and based at the shelter, located at 2406 N. Tibbs Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46222 (Family/Single Women's Shelter 24/7) or 2302 W Morris St, Indianapolis, IN 46221 (weather activated men's shelter).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
I. Resident Support and Engagement
Direct Client Support: Conduct consistent rounds and engage residents in a supportive, trauma-informed manner to build rapport and promote positive behavior.
Resource Linkage: Assist residents in connecting with essential services, including healthcare, behavioral health providers, and social services, facilitating signed Releases of Information (ROIs) as needed.
Policy Compliance: Gently enforce shelter policies (curfew, quiet hours, childcare, etc.), utilizing the written guidelines provided by Aspire.
Build and maintain strong relationships with service providers, shelter staff, and community organizations to ensure coordinated care.
Assist residents with completing intake forms, understanding shelter expectations, and available resources.
II. Safety, Security, and Operations
Intake & Exit: Manage the resident sign-in/out process, assist with new resident intake and orientation, ensuring all required documents (Participation Agreement, Welcome Letter, Allergy Information, etc) are signed and filed.
Safety Monitoring: Conduct regular safety and security checks of the facility and grounds, immediately reporting maintenance issues or potential hazards to the Shift Leader.
Inventory & Logistics: Assist the Operations Associate with meal distribution, inventory of non-contracted food (breakfast/lunch items), and tracking supplies
Data Entry: Accurately record and enter all collected resident data and complete all shift logs reports.
Maintain regular communication with your shift leader or the site manager, keeping them informed of resident progress, challenges, and issues that may arise.
Support the overall smooth operation of the shelter, ensuring residents' needs are met and the environment remains conducive to their well-being.
Contractors are expected to uphold the highest standards of privacy and confidentiality regarding shelter residents and their families. All sensitive information must be handled with care, in compliance with privacy regulations and organizational policies.
Track hours worked, and submit invoices twice monthly (on the 5th and 20th) to the onsite shelter manager.
III. Crisis and Emergency Response
De-escalation: Employ techniques rooted in Trauma-Informed Care and Motivational Interviewing to de-escalate conflicts and manage behavioral crises among residents.
Crisis Protocol: Follow the established Staff Emergency Protocol for all critical incidents, including reporting serious injuries, fire, police response, or mandatory reporting situations.
Weather Activation: For the Weather-Activated Shelter, respond to activation calls with 24-72 hours' notice and report for assigned shifts promptly to assist with shelter set-up and immediate client services.
Crisis Linkage: Facilitate contact with Aspire's 24-hour crisis line and mobile crisis services when necessary.
Required Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is preferred).
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a shelter, social service agency, or related housing services environment. Experience working with diverse populations, including families and individuals experiencing homelessness, is essential.
Skills: Demonstrated competency in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
Background check: Must pass a drug screen, TB test and complete a background check. Staff working at the Family Shelter will also need to be finger printed
Contractor agrees to provide Aspire with proof of Workman's Comp and Liability insurance prior to starting
Work Environment
The role requires the ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs. Staff must be prepared to work overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts, and remain flexible to accommodate the fluctuating schedule of the Weather-Activated Shelter.

Ensures high quality clinical outcomes through electronic monitoring and direct physical oversight and prompt incident report review. Ensures through formal trainings, remedial trainings, and one-on-one coaching that all employees in the nursing department are well-educated in their job functions. This may include, but is not limited to, clinical activities, operational procedures, and the use of technology during each staff member's day-to-day activities. Working with the site's leadership team, the Nurse Manager identifies ongoing training needs of staff thru direct oversite and chart audits and develops a workflow to meet those training needs. This may include small-group work or one-on-one remedial work. Ensures that training events are completed on time and within budget. Collaborates with the Director of Nursing Team to develop, implement and maintain new and established initiatives. Remains up to date on policy, protocol, operational and technological changes at RCA and incorporates those changes into ongoing training activities, at the direction and support of the Director of Nursing. Working with the Director of Nursing, annually creates and disseminates updated emergency response, infection control, and training plans for all employees. Working with the Learning Management System administrator, ensures all nursing staff are current with required electronic seminars identified for each employee's position. Consults with Director of Nursing, Medical Director, and Health Care Providers on a routine basis in support of RCA's mission, vision, and values. Interacts with patients and families, clinical teams to promote individualized, person-centered, and recovery-oriented treatment. Maintains the standards of care and nursing practices with a focus on safety and incorporation of evidence-based practice. Adheres to and supports the nursing department with quality and compliance expectations provided by accreditors, licensures, and regulatory standards. Maintain excellent working relationships with first responders, dispatchers, and hospitals
Arrange urgent comprehensive assessments/intakes with Aspire providers or referral partners
Work with hospital discharge planners to coordinate and schedule post-inpatient treatment
Coordinate with Aspire staff to perform assessments aimed at anticipating potential crises for those currently in Aspire services
Provide outreach to current Aspire clients at risk for potential crisis through Caring Contacts and review of their Safety and Prevention plan
Serve as a resource for Aspire staff, as well as, external stakeholders in the identification and application of criteria for inpatient treatment
Coordinate referrals to Aspire treatment services as well as to external resources/services
Monitor psychiatric bed availability in the community
Participate in 24 hour on-call crisis team, as needed

Education/Experience/Requirements
* Graduate of a two (2) year Medical Assistant program accredited by the U.S. Department of Education highly preferred. Certification or registration through an accrediting body is required (AAMA, NCCT, AMT, NHA, or NAHP)
* One (1) year directly related experience in a service capacity of individuals in need (e.g., children, youth, elderly, physically, emotionally and/or mentally disabled, special needs, etc.) preferred. Previous clinical experience in a medical office setting highly preferred.
* Must have access to reliable transportation, maintain a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance and a driving record that meets the guidelines and requirements of the organization. This position may be required to travel to other Aspire locations for coverage, as needed.

Position Summary
The License Eligible Therapist - Addictions will utilize a strengths based recovery-focused approach to facilitate addiction and dual diagnosis groups and individual/family therapy services to individuals with substance use disorders in an outpatient setting. This position will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that works with behavioral health professionals and primary care providers to provide integrated healthcare to the individuals we serve in order to achieve their identified goals.
Education/Experience
Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or other mental health related field accredited by the US Department of Education required
Minimum two (2) years experience in related field required
Community Mental Health experience highly preferred
Must have excellent diagnostic and treatment planning skills; knowledge of substance use disorders treatment
Knowledge of social service systems, community resources, legal systems, and child welfare systems highly preferred
Licensure
Must have a temporary license to practice or;
Be recognized as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA) by the State of Indiana

The Rely center is "A Safe Place for Help" which includes a Psychiatric Urgent Care for all ages and an adult 23 hour stabilization unit.
Position Summary
This position will provide on-demand, evidence-based crisis intervention and assessment services. This position will assess, de-escalate, and problem-solve issues which may appear to be associated with mental illness and/or substance use disorders. The Rely Center team is for individuals who have a passion for and are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, assisting individuals in mental health and/or substance use crises, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. This is a full-time position, with potential schedule adjustment/options in the future.
As part of a team, provide on-demand assessment, consultation, crisis intervention services, formulation of clinical diagnosis and treatment planning
Conduct initial/brief clinical evaluations for all populations with attention to the interaction of physical, behavioral, and social conditions
Educate clients, family members and community providers on the interaction between social, medical, behavioral, and addiction issues
Utilize identified screening and assessment tools in evaluation process
Arrange referrals to external treatment domains or agencies, as needed
Provide follow-up contact and case management as indicated
Build caring and trusting relationships with those we serve and their identified family members
Foster a strong working relationship with first responders as well as community partners, which may include DCS, hospitals, other mental health agencies, health providers, probation, schools, community agencies, etc.
Education/Experience
Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or other mental health related field from a college/university accredited by the US Department of Education required
Minimum of (1) year experience in a related field required
Community Mental Health experience highly preferred
Experience with Crisis Intervention highly preferred
Must have excellent crisis intervention/de-escalation skills
