JOB SUMMARY The Education Specialist Mild/Moderate Support Needs instructs students with Individualized Education Plans in an inclusive environment. This role works directly within a school site and collaborates regularly with Special Education staff and may work with outside consultants and district personnel as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Administer academic assessments, write the academic assessment reports and present at IEP meetings * Consult and communicate with faculty and parents via meetings, phone, and email regarding the needs and progress of students * Maintain knowledge of current regulations pertaining to special education * Collaborate with faculty to ensure that student modifications and accommodations are being appropriately implemented in the general education classroom * Assist with the development of the master schedule to plan for all student IEP needs. * Meet the minimum IDEA requirements related to case management * Input weekly IEP service tracking and meet all IEP timelines * Maintain a high level or rigor for students with disabilities in order to ensure equitable access to common core standards. * Develop progress monitoring tools for student goals that is shared with the IEP team * Regularly collaborate with team members and related service providers for the purposes of: reviewing student data, ensuring IEP and behavior plan implementation, co-planning and/or co-teaching. * Daily oversight of paraprofessional support, including support with creating a schedule and implementation of the IEP * Demonstrate effective organization skills in order to create and maintain notifications, records, files, and reports as required by federal, state, and SELPA regulations * Implement health and mobility supports (i.e. support student/s with toileting, g-tube feeding, administration of medication while under supervision of school nurse) and assist with the physical needs of students (i.e. lifting, assisting with mobility, access to campus.) * Oversee, teach and implement a student's behavior intervention plan, including gathering and analyzing relevant data on a regular basis, and collaborating with staff members around student plan and progress * Regularly co-teach/co-plan with General Education teachers * Coordinate the development and implementation of a student's Individualized Transition Program Additional: * Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, the Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements including antiracism, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior. * Knowledge of special education principles, concepts, methodologies, and documentation requirements * Knowledge of special education assessment, planning, instruction, and evaluation * Knowledge of child cognitive development and different learning styles * Ability and willingness to implement students' IEPs * Belief in inclusion and Aspire's Equity Belief Statements and demonstrates high expectations for students with diverse learning needs * Ability and willingness to reflect and improve * Ability to follow and meet mandated deadlines and due dates * Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions; ability and good judgment to take initiative to modify activities * Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with general education and special education colleagues, parents and community * Ability to excel as a member of a team and implement new learnings from professional development * Ability to work with an ethnically and economically diverse student body * Perform other related duties as required and assigned. Owning Aspire's state and federal grants, the manager is responsible for pursuing and obtaining government funding, all aspects of compliance and financial planning related to government grants administration, and ensuring proper stewardship of all government grants received by Aspire Public Schools. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Grants Development: Conduct the full range of activities required to prepare and submit grant proposals to government entities. Oversee financial and legal components of grant applications, including the development of budgets for grant submission. Identify and conduct research on prospective funding opportunities at the state and federal levels, with particular focus on opportunities presented by the California Department of Education and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Work with the Director of Development to develop annual strategies and projections to fulfill funding needs. Grants Administration and Compliance: Review all grant agreements, documenting and communicating all deliverables, deadlines, and responsibilities to internal stakeholders. Ensure funds are spent in compliance with established administrative and financial policies and program guidelines for federal and non-federal grants. Ensure grant deliverables and deadlines are met in compliance with grant agreements, preparing narrative and financial reports for granting agencies within prescribed timelines. Provide technical oversight regarding grant applications, grant modifications, progress reports and budgets. Lead regular grant project status meetings with Home Office, Regional, and school-based teams to ensure grant deliverables are on-track and deadlines are met. Serve as primary liaison between Foundation and Finance teams to perform monthly reconciliations of grant funds received. Monthly monitoring of net asset schedule for restricted funds for all entities. Compile and manage excellent historical and prospective data to effectively prioritize work; utilize Salesforce for grant tracking. The Postsecondary Success Advisor provides support and counseling to KIPPsters graduating from high school (focusing on the transition to postsecondary pathways) and continuing this support through their postsecondary pathway (focusing on persistence, completion, and career readiness). This role will be based out of the Regional Support Office in Oakland and will require the candidate to be on site at least 2-3 days a week, typically to a KIPP local high school, local college campus, or in the Regional Support Office. A two-year commitment is strongly preferred to work with the same cohort of students for two years in a row. The Postsecondary Success Advisor will report to the Postsecondary and Career Success Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (20 BULLET POINTS) * Including but not limited to family activities and programming (i.e. family workshops) to deliver academic, early college, college, and career counseling services across all grades. * Collaborate with school and regional leaders to support the articulation and coherence of student programming to deliver systematic support towards their post-secondary goals. * Arrange for school-wide opportunities for students and families to visit with college admission, scholarship program, and other community partnership program representatives, through visits to the high school, college/career fairs, field trips, and/or college tours. * Support and counsel students and families to find post-secondary pathways and enrichment opportunities that are authentic to their identities. * Provide additional academic, college and career support for students in special population groups, such as undocumented students, transition plans for students with IEPs and 504 plans, multi-language learners, etc in collaboration with various stakeholders. * Monitor all student academic performance and assist the school administration with appropriate interventions, including support prior to course failure, as well as credit recovery and graduation plans. * Attend IEP, 504, attendance, MTSS and SST meetings to present graduation pathways, requirements, credit progress, credit recovery needs, in collaboration with key stakeholders. * Communicate student progress and/or intervention plans to students and families . * Coordinate, educate, and counsel students on dual-enrollment including applications and enrollment process in college courses. * Support administration as needed with scheduling students in courses, monitoring the UC course list, standardized testing, and planning credit recovery and summer school. * Prepare and deliver college, career, and academic advising workshops. * Prepare and interpret student data to inform differentiated programming. Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions Instruction, Monitoring, & Staff Development * Support and assist administration with efforts to ensure academic and operational programs of high quality and in compliance with any applicable regulations * Implement instructional programs that strengthen teaching skills and contribute to the advancement of students * Lead or support least one instructional/content department team or grade level span * Participate in and conduct formal as well as informal classroom observations, grounded in the Aspire Student Learning Framework (ASLF). * Provide direct coaching to ensure alignment with curriculum standards to teachers using site, regional, or org-aligned coaching framework. * Plan and conduct teacher professional development in relation to new classroom procedures, instructional materials and equipment, and teaching aids * Monitor, identify trends, and analyze data including report preparation to increase student achievement using such systems as PowerSchool, the Aspire Data Portal and behavior response platforms * Coordinate and/or support Cycle of Inquiry sessions * Participate in and/or chair the RTI committee or academic components of MTSS. * Coordinate with after-school programs and other intervention personnel to insure coherent supports for students * Support teachers in developing and fostering strong classroom climates that support student academic achievement * Provide support with academic counseling and monitoring of student class schedules * Provide direct instruction to students in teaching coursework based on school site needs * Prepare teachers to support student testing and oversee administration of ACT (as applicable for secondary), GATE, SBAC, ELPAC and other state or Aspire-required assessments * Participate in and/or represent the principal in SST, IEP 504 or other meetings as required. * Work directly with families to support the development of students academically, intellectually, socially and behaviorally * Recommend, order, or authorize purchase of instructional materials, supplies, equipment, and visual aids designed to meet student educational needs Leadership * Assign work of, supervise and evaluate direct reports. * Develops and cultivate a school wide culture that fosters positive relationships across all levels * Work collaboratively with Principal and Home Office to achieve site and organizational goals * Support administration in the delivery of student report cards * Lead projects as assigned by principal that may include; process improvement, cycle of inquiry-driven instructional improvements, or any other projects required * Lead and participate in appropriate staff meetings and trainings including traveling within and outside of school region * Effectively build and maintain relationships with parents, community stakeholders, sponsoring district and neighborhood schools that establish mutual trust and respect Student Life & Culture * Implement, model and enforce policies and practices as they relate to student discipline and cultural norms. * Respond to and participate in complaints or investigations of student behavior. * Collaboratively work with students, parents and school staff to build a learning environment that is safe and productive. Minimum educational level: * Bachelor's Degree required; * Masters or Ph.D. in Education preferred Licensure/Certifications: * Valid Administrative Credential preferred * NCLB Highly Qualified preferred Experience required: * 3+ years working in underserved communities as a full-time teacher, required * 5+years teaching and/or administrative experience, preferred Physical requirements: * Stand, walk or bend over, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull.
