The responsibilities of a mentor may include: instructional observations and coaching, case management observations and coaching, mentor professional development, regular one-on-one meetings, completion of credential program assessments and rubrics, and collaboration with education specialist school site managers. * Paraeducators: Support IEP teams in implementing KIPP's paraeducator referral guidelines & process. Participate in hiring and training paraeducators. Support education specialists to develop and document support including the development of fade plans, when appropriate. * Professional Development: Provide staff development for special education and general education staff and administrators to assure compliance with special education laws. In particular, collaboratively plan and lead a regular education specialist community of practice. Program Implementation * IEP Program Development: Assist education specialists and related service providers in planning and implementing individualized education plans for students with disabilities. Serve as a resource and liaison to IEP teams regarding placement and programming considerations. Participates as a member of IEP teams, as appropriate. Provide case management for non-public school (NPS) and residential treatment center (RTC) students. * Consultation: Provide technical expertise and consultation to school site staff and administrators regarding student learning and adjustment problems, and organizational systems for meeting individual student needs. Recommend remediation, educational placement, or referral, when appropriate. * MTSS: Consult in the development of regional and/or school-based Multi-Tiered System of Supports, as appropriate. * Team Member: Maintain relationships with school leaders, school site administrators, special education team members, and regional support office staff. Program Oversight * Provide support to LEAs & school teams to ensure Compliance, Quality Control, and Positive Parent relationships, including: * Compliance: Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, state and SELPA reporting requirements, and KIPP Public Schools Northern California policies and procedures. Maintain knowledge of current laws and regulations pertaining to individuals with disabilities. * Quality Control: Support systems to monitor student achievement and progress toward individualized education plan goals. Consults with regional and school site leaders in evaluating special education program effectiveness. Work with other management personnel to develop and/or change district policies and procedures for maintenance of complaints, high-quality instructional programs, and effective support services in special education. * Parent Relationships: Support the development of positive relationships with students, parents, and school personnel. Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands * Physical: Ability to navigate office and school campuses, and hold meetings in different spaces. Traditionally, much of the day involves sitting.     KIPP Public Schools Northern California is seeking an experienced Mental Health Clinician to provide on-site culturally responsive and trauma informed mental health and social-emotional support to students on campus. In this position, you will provide an array of therapeutic services to youth in a public school-based setting. This role also provides outreach and education on topics of mental health, substance use, and other wellness subject matters as relevant to the immediate school community. The ideal candidate cares deeply about children and adolescents, especially those who have experienced significant trauma in their lives. Reporting to the school leader and receiving coaching from the clinical supervisor, the Mental Health Clinician will provide psychotherapeutic interventions, behavioral supports, and mental health treatment services including counseling, consultation, treatment and case management for students receiving either Educationally Related Mental Health Services or general education counseling. Essential Functions and Responsibilities * Provide culturally responsive MTSS-aligned school-based mental health and substance abuse services in the forms of individual, group, and family treatment, therapeutic case management, crisis intervention, assessment & treatment planning, clinical evaluation, and consultation services for the school community. * Work collaboratively with clients' multidisciplinary treatment teams to develop daily programming and interventions that will meet each client's educational, mental health and behavioral needs. * Provide outreach and education on mental health issues to students, families, community members, other professionals, school staff, and in community settings as necessary. * Develop and maintain administrative and treatment records related to client care in accordance to standards specified by funding source and Regional Support Office (RSO) policies utilizing an electronic health record and Special Education Information System (SEIS). * Participate in internal and/or external training as required by the position, school, or RSO. * Participate in student services meetings (such as COST, SST or IEP meetings) * Provide crisis intervention, assessments, and triage of students. * Establish, maintain contact with, and assist in collaboration with local community based social service agencies in order to refer students and families for further services * May provide on-site coordination of counseling intern(s) from outside agencies. * Perform other duties as assigned (not to include non-counseling or other duties that could compromise potential counseling relationships, such as disciplining students, duties, advisories, etc). Qualifications Experience: * At least one year (2+ years preferred) of post-master's experience providing mental health and substance abuse services in school-based settings preferred. * At least one year (2+ years preferred) of post-master's experience providing mental health services in a community mental health setting preferred. Education: * Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field. * Registered associate (AMFT, ASW, APCC) with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Job Summary The Dean of Instruction assists the site principal in developing a healthy school community and culture under the principals of "College for Certain". This role is primarily focused on assisting the school in developing and refining the academic program provided to students. Deans of Instruction focus their energies on staff professional development and support, aligning educational offerings to match student needs and evaluating the success of the academic program. Due to the integrative nature of schooling, this position may also be part of leadership teams that examine issues pertaining to school culture, compliance and a wide variety of tasks at the discretion of the principal. The Dean of Instruction may be involved more with teacher coaching or have a more student facing role, depending on the needs of the school.
