Be part of a team in the manufacturing and assembly of aluminum trailers to meet productivity goals without compromising safety or quality. Efficiently run the cut station to build trailer frame kits for the welding line.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Experience in reading blueprints, work orders, and ensuring the trailer is built according to specifications.
Obtain raw materials from Material Handlers - may cut material according to the cut list.
Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues
Maintaining quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results.
Reads and follows blueprints and work orders, ensuring a quality product that meets customer demands; performs work as assigned by the line supervisor.
Obtains raw materials from Material Handlers. Cut material in accordance with specifications on the cut list.
Notifies supervisor of any mechanical or material issues, including but not limited to defects in material, damage to the trailer, and deviations from work order.
Ensures that the finished product meets quality expectations. Strives for the highest level of quality and understands the need for continuous improvement; supports the concept of “good enough is never good enough.”
Maintains a clean and safe work area; works to minimize scrap, places unused material back in the appropriate area, and disposes of waste appropriately.
Follows all safety procedures, wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and reports any accidents or near misses to the supervisor immediately. Cut-resistant gloves, double eye protection, and hearing protection are required.
Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
One year of hands-on experience working with a variety of power tools, with expert chop/miter saw cutting skills, and reading a tape measure.
Previous experience working in manufacturing or construction is helpful; however, on-the-job training may be provided.

Operate hydraulic benders or presses to straighten manganese castings.
Safely operate jib and overhead cranes.
Ability to operate grinder, welder and power tools.
Proficiently assemble all switch points built at plant.
Safely operate powered industrial truck.
Able to work with little supervision.
Adhere to Nortrak's Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies.
Routine cleanup of work area.
Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Assembler is responsible for performing all tasks involved in the production of aluminum trailers. This includes measuring, cutting, and drilling of aluminum, plywood, and skins. All Production workers are expected to be available to work in all areas of Production. Position offers job training. Training may include shop print reading, light assembly, and aluminum welding.
