Cover leads-potting, conformal coating, under cover with patches, or doghouse. String heaters and terminate leads with copper crimps. Operate Spartanics and die clicker machines. Assembler This position is responsible for inserting coil windings into stators, rotors, and armatures, ensuring high-quality assembly in accordance with technical specifications. The Assembler is crucial to support the production of motors designed to endure exposure to combat, rigorous shock, and saltwater for decades of use. The Assembler uses finesse, strength, and focus to ensure each motor is built to accommodate the severe duty requirements of the U.S. Navy fleet. Key Responsibilities: Inspect stators, rotors, or armatures for defects such as bent laminations, burrs, or unclear slots. Review traveler documents for connection diagrams, winding types, span, inserts, and coil groupings. Install slot liners and insert coils based on the correct span, following all required steps for coil insertion and grouping. Shape coils using a forming fixture (press or mallet) and verify with templates. Solder coil leads using a solder pot, ladles, hand soldering iron, or for smaller gauges, brazing. Apply non-adhesive insulation tape and install additional sleeves, silicone, and moisture blockers. Perform similar coil insertion and shaping tasks for rotors and armatures, ensuring correct slot alignment. Weld coil wires to the commutator using TIG on larger rotors. Install temporary arbors to support and rotate the unit during coil insertion. Inspect work at each stage, ensuring coils meet specifications and are ready for testing or further processing. Label coil wires and ensure the stator is sent for testing once complete. Ensure the finished product meets all specifications before progressing to the next station. Scope: Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for hand soldering, along with set-up and operation of automated soldering machine used in soldering of printed circuit boards. Assignments are semi-routine in nature. Follows verbal and written instructions including blueprints, subassembly layouts. May use hand tools, set up, adjust and operate automatic or semi-automatic machines. Conducts regular preventative machine maintenance. Duties and Responsibilities: · Hand Solder electronic components in through-hole and surface mount technology to Military Standards. · Sets up and operates automated soldering equipment. · Adjusts automated soldering equipment. · Checks circuit boards in process for pin holes, insufficient solder, excess solder and leaners. Adds solder as needed. · Adjusts temperature and pressure controls for proper operation. · Perform specialized testing of products. Technical school training preferred. Good mechanical skills and understanding of basic forms of digital and analog circuitry. · Conducts regular preventative machine maintenance. · Accomplish all job related paperwork in the most accurate, timely and ethical manner. · Communicates regularly to supervisors/managers, suggests procedural changes. · Attends meetings, communicates regularly with managers and supervisors, attends special training, maintains a clean, safe work environment and communicates to supervisors safety hazards and issues. · All other assigned duties as required within the production organization. · Regular attendance is an essential function of this job. Ability to lift up to 30lbs and exercise extreme physical mobility. · Good reading vision. · Ability to pass eye exam with a minimum 20/20 vision that may be corrected via eyeglasses or contact lenses as required. On-Site The Production Assembler performs repetitive and/or standard assembly/calibration operations of moderate complexity. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** 1. Under moderate supervision, receive general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments following established procedures. 2. Solve problems of limited scope. 3. Quality of work is verified by the assembler, and occasionally by another source. 4. May make proper computer transactions to move product and work order through the system. 5. When needed, frequent contact with associates, supervisor and possibly engineering, sales, and production control requiring reporting and exchanging of information with interpretation, or expediting products. **QUALIFICATION AND JOB REQUIREMENTS** **EDUCATION REQUIRED:** High School diploma or equivalent preferred. (5 years of experience required in place of High School Diploma or GED.) **EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:** 1 year experience as an assembler and the ability to identify and read the value of electronic components and read/understand simple production or engineering prints. Requires basic command of English, basic math skills, good manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination. Basic knowledge of related practices, processes, policies and procedures.
