    The Assembler I performs manual labor along a production line. This position works in one work center within a department. Duties include assembly of components, sub-assemblies and examining items as they are produced. Additionally, the Assembler operates and troubleshoots production line machinery. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Work Environment: Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Machinery operation requires the use of safety to equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors and work boots/shoes. Able to work in one center within a department. Responsible for attaching or affixing pre-manufactured components and parts. Complete daily production logs. Must ensure that time, material and waste is minimized. Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and sub-assemblies. Assist machinists in repair and other miscellaneous work. Possess, acquires, and maintains the technical expertise required to do the job effectively. Provide on-the-job training to new employees. Ability to effectively hear, understand and follow directions and instructions in response to management direction. SAFETY Operate within Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA's). Clean and maintain work area. Observes safety and security procedures; uses equipment and materials properly. QUALITY Responsible for quality control and making adjustments as necessary to produce product within specifications. The basic function of the Assembler is to accept the responsibility for ensuring that all work is completed in a timely and efficient manner and to the standards that are required. The Assembler will be expected to follow the procedures and duties as instructed, and also to analyze the processes and procedures being executed, providing feedback for the continued improvement of the production process. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES The principle responsibilities of the Assembler shall consist of, but are not limited to, the following: Must have the ability to be aware of and recognize potentially dangerous situations in the shop and yard and be capable of rectifying and avoiding the situation while operating equipment. Completing work to the highest standards of quality. Restocking components and materials, when necessary. Maintaining an organized, clean, and safe work area. Following and abiding by all safety protocol. Immediately reporting any production problems to the Supervisor. Provide quality control check on all raw materials and finished products.
