The Assembler is crucial to support the production of motors designed to endure exposure to combat, rigorous shock, and saltwater for decades of use. The Assembler uses finesse, strength, and focus to ensure each motor is built to accommodate the severe duty requirements of the U.S. Navy fleet. Key Responsibilities: Inspect stators, rotors, or armatures for defects such as bent laminations, burrs, or unclear slots. Review traveler documents for connection diagrams, winding types, span, inserts, and coil groupings. Install slot liners and insert coils based on the correct span, following all required steps for coil insertion and grouping. Shape coils using a forming fixture (press or mallet) and verify with templates. Solder coil leads using a solder pot, ladles, hand soldering iron, or for smaller gauges, brazing. Apply non-adhesive insulation tape and install additional sleeves, silicone, and moisture blockers. Perform similar coil insertion and shaping tasks for rotors and armatures, ensuring correct slot alignment. Weld coil wires to the commutator using TIG on larger rotors. Material handling equipment is available at all times. · Regularly required to use hands for a variety of tasks. · Must be able to reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. · Ability to walk, stand and sit, occasionally to climb, balance, stoop, kneel. · Frequently lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. · Good vision and eye / hand coordination. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, and typical work hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Overtime is on an as needed basis and at the direction of the Operations Supervisor. Travel Travel with reasonable notice, for installation, training and service work. Preferred Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Toolmaker or Machining background, minimum of four years machining experience.
