Job Description The Heavy Assembler is responsible for assembling, testing, and maintaining large-scale agricultural machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience in assembly processes, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Heavy Assembler Key Responsibilities: Assemble heavy agriculture equipment, including tractors, harvesters, and other farming machinery. Inspect and test equipment to ensure all systems are functioning properly and meet quality standards. Read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints to guide assembly processes. Collaborate with team members to efficiently complete assembly projects within set timelines. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machinery as needed. Work with parts inventory and report shortages or issues with parts to the supervisor. Technical or vocational training in mechanical assembly or a related field preferred. 1+ years of experience in heavy equipment assembly or a similar mechanical field. Familiarity with agricultural machinery is a plus. Experience with basic hand and power tools is essential. Review engineering layout and cut sheets to verify the correct wood materials, lengths, grade, and size. Correctly set up the jig with team members for each specific truss in pre-production. Apply the correct plate sizes during assembly per computer aided design (CAD) software. Check quality of product and verify critical specifications such as heel height, seat cuts, depths, spans, and squareness of the truss. Assemble the truss with the assigned team. Plan and pace work to equal the lead assembler. Achieve daily, weekly, project and team related productivity goals as determined by Production Management. Ensure all components comply with required standards from the Truss Plate Institute (TPI) and other relevant regulatory agencies. Stack and bundle all trusses: Verify all orders are correctly marked. Move finished products to the yard and assemble bundling blocks. Maintain a clean job site: Collect all tools and equipment. Secure job site to eliminate potential hazards. Restock connector plates as needed. Other duties as assigned. Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications: Lift heavy objects up to 75lbs or more, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Bend, push, pull, twist, and squat frequently, Use hammer and nail guns frequently during the shift, climb and descend from elevated tables frequently. Correctly read a tape measure to the sixteenth of an inch quickly and with no errors. Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in construction work including; nail gun, hammer, forklift, press machine, tape measure and saws. High School diploma or any combination of education or experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work. Previous experience working in a truss or panel plant is preferred. Ability to effectively operate in a team environment. Solid work history with a proven track record of successes in carpentry or manufacturing. Ability to effectively follow verbal and written instructions. Be coachable by team members and leadership.
