Assembly leader job description

Assembly Line Lead is responsible for supporting and managing assembly associates in safety and operational procedures, build schedule achievement, 5S, inventory and BOM accuracy, in a dynamic industrial manufacturing factory. Product lines are low volume high mix including build to order.

This role is directly responsible for staff management, safety and performance of assembly line or cell.

Essential Functions:

The successful candidate has experience in leading a team in a lean manufacturing environment using an ERP system with an ability to be self-driven and go ahead with limited direction.

Key requirements include:

· Teach, train, support, motivate, manage and document staff performance and compliance.

· Work with other team leads to manage and prioritize assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedule are met.

· Strong level of attention to detail.

· Follow assembly instructions, processes and procedures as designated by the company's quality system.

· Work closely with the support staff such as technicians, engineers, production supervisors to resolve issues.

· Perform cycle counts to help manage inventory accuracy.

· Assure all entries into the ERP system, such as part numbers, labor and inspection are accurate.

· Provide leadership by demonstrating high standards of work practices and safety conscious behavior.

· Maintain thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.

· Work with management to set goals and implement processes that will ensure goals are met.

· Communicate and support goals in a manner that motivates the support and acceptance of others.

· Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.

· Maintain good communication with employees and other departments.

· Strong conflict resolution, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

· Maintain a positive attitude in stressful situations.

Qualifications:

· 2 or more years supervisory experience.

· High school diploma or Associate's Degree.

· Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude.

· Must have basic computer skills including typing, data entry and Email.

5 years of experience of supervisory experience with high speed production line

General Responsibility-

Responsible for safely Assemble quality products through the efficient use of manpower, materials, and equipment. The Production Assembly Lead III directs the activities to Production Assembly departments, promotes safe work practices, maintains production schedules and record keeping, and ensures quality standards are met. This position plans work, makes assignments, assists in the hiring process, trains new employees, and administers company policies consistently

Requirements/Skills and Abilities

High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Strong organizational, Leadership & administrative Skills.

Operate a forklift

Stand for long periods of time

Lift 35 lbs.

Industrial maintenance: 5 years (preferred)

Computer literate – (MS Office) (ERP Systems – SAP

JOB PURPOSE:
Oversee the day-to-day production of the ATO assembly line as directed by Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Train and direct the work of department employees in all stations of the assembly process.Assure assembly line meets production schedules.Communicate with Supervisor; report daily production.Complete assembly of various models of machines following established procedures.Complete and maintain required paperwork.Verify completed machines meet quality standards and initial paperwork.Use instruments and gauges to check tolerances.Move machines as required.Use a manual and electric pallet jack.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
High School graduate or equivalent.One(1) + year cross-functional assembly experience including operation of hand tools, gauges, torque wrenches.Operate small air, hand and electric tools.Read work instructions and drawings.Effectively communicate in English (speak, read, write and understand).Solid organizational and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment.Computer skills including email and Excel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lift up to 30 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.Walk, stand, bend, squat, sit, twist/turn, climb ladders, reach overhead and grasp tools as necessary.
