What can you expect?
As the Laborer, you will support skilled workers and perform manual labor to complete general construction tasks as a productive member of the STG construction crew in Alaska. Work will take place in the following villages: Alakanuk, Chignik Lagoon, Eek, False Pass, Kalskag, Kipnuk, Kivalina, Kongiginak, Kwigillingok, Perryville, Quinhagak, Russian Mission, Tuntutuliak, and Tununak. Please note that this position is reserved exclusively for local hires, and housing accommodations will not be provided in these areas.
How will you do it?
Work closely and support a variety of skilled trades and construction activities.
Follow directives from Project Foreman, and anyone senior, with the sense of duty to take initiative and remain productive at work.
Perform physical labor that requires considerable use of one's arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials at construction sites.
Load, offload, move and organize supplies, materials, tools and small equipment at barge landings, airstrips and on the job site.
Prepare work sites, maintain safe work sites.
Perform trade for long hours, day after day, often in adverse conditions, to complete the project at hand.
Perform grounding, weatherproofing, and testing of various systems.
Attend and participate in regular safety meetings.
Adhere to and perform duties pursuant to the Company wide safety plan.
Responsible for reporting any incident, situation or activity that may affect the Company's ability to operate safely, ethically and profitably to the supervisor and the Company Safety Manager.

Performs seasonal preventive maintenance work on heating and boiler systems, such as draining fluid systems, checking water levels. May perform emergency repair work of systems.
Performs maintenance of grounds by cleaning up debris; removing rubbish; digging shallow trenches; seeding, watering, mowing and general cultivating of lawns; shapes and controls trees and shrubs to desired size by pruning; raking grass and leaves; operates spraying equipment. Clears snow and ice from buildings and grounds by shoveling, operating a snow plow, snow blower, as needed, to ensure tenant safety.
Performs general cleaning and preparation of units for renovation, including moving heavy objects such as refrigerators, stoves, etc.
Perform moderately heavy manual labor, in or out-of-doors, including lifting heavy objects, with strength and agility and to work under adverse weather conditions, if necessary, such as heat, cold and around mechanical equipment, chemicals, tools and with soil.
May be assigned Master keys for assigned location. Required to read and follow AHFC Key/Card Receipt form. Notify supervisor immediately of the loss of any key.
Required to be on-call on a rotating basis for duty stations in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, and Bethel.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Abilities: Work harmoniously with other maintenance employees, tenants, the general public and property management staff. Functionally verifies product performance to the defined test criteria
Utilizes hand and power tools
Use of hose assembly equipment to cut, clean, crimp, cap and kit hose assemblies
Communicate material shortages and/or issues to the production supervisor in charge as needed
Assist in daily inventory counts
Be able to recognize different fittings and hose types and sizes by sight
Forklift operation
Other duties as assigned
Successful candidate will possess:
High school diploma or equivalent education
Ability to pass pre-employment and random hair follicle drug screenings
Previous forklift experience is preferred, but not required
Ability to work in physically demanding conditions. Must be able to stand, bend, and work on your feet and lift 50lbs on a regular basis.
Excellent communication skills
Strong work ethic with a team player attitude
Completes work assignments in a timely manner
Must be attentive to detail
Reliable and dependable adherence to work schedule
