Position Overview
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating the Acoustic Coating Line, including startup, cleaning, and shutdown procedures. The operator will load and unload acoustic foam panels, manage coating materials, and ensure all equipment operates efficiently and safely to produce high-quality finished products.
This position requires attention to detail, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The operator will also be cross-trained in other areas of manufacturing.
Primary Duties
Operate, monitor, and maintain the Acoustic Coating Line, including the conveyor oven and spray system.
Perform startup, cleaning, and shutdown procedures as specified in standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Load acoustic foam panels into the coating machine and unload finished panels, packaging them into boxes for shipment.
Handle and mix 5-gallon buckets of coating material, ensuring proper consistency and labeling.
Perform thickness checks and maintain coating quality throughout production.
Clean and maintain paint spray nozzles, heads, and lines to ensure proper spray patterns and prevent clogging.
Handle delicate foam materials safely to prevent damage or contamination.
Perform meticulous daily cleaning of equipment and work area to maintain product quality and prevent cross-contamination.
Cross-Training and Additional Responsibilities
Participate in cross-training across multiple manufacturing areas, including:
Machine operation (cutting, grinding, shaping, gluing, and assembly).
Packaging and preparation for shipping.
General manufacturing responsibilities as needed.
Quality and Safety
Follow all standard work methods, safety protocols, and housekeeping standards to ensure a safe, organized work environment.
Complete all production and quality documentation accurately and on time.
Identify and report equipment malfunctions or process issues to a Production Supervisor or Manager.
Exercise authority to stop non-conforming parts or products, notifying Quality or Supervisors immediately.
