The Production Worker is responsible for the processing, manufacture, packaging, storing and distribution of charcoal briquettes.
The Production Worker may be assigned to work in any of these areas of the plant:
* Retort - In the Retort department we convert wood waste to char that goes into the charcoal briquettes
* Briquetting - In the Briquetting department we combine the char and other raw materials to create the charcoal briquette
* Packaging - In the Packaging department we operate machines that package finished charcoal briquettes into bags
* Warehouse - In the Warehouse we store finished bags of charcoal briquettes for shipments to customers or other warehouses

Capable of following all machine shop procedures

Duties Include:
This associate is responsible for the assembly of all size motors: AC & DC, horizontal and vertical.
Mechanical Assembler is responsible for the assembly, testing, disassembly, inspection and painting of electric motors and enclosed drive gearboxes
Various assembly duties while following customer specifications.
Ensure the quality of all work sent to the test panel.
Complete all related paperwork accurately and thoroughly.
Demonstrate the ability to understand and utilize drawings, sketches, and geometric dimensioning, tolerances, and repair manuals.
Providing feedback to engineering on assembly/test discrepancies, drawing errors, quality errors, etc. in an effort to resolve problems and prevent reoccurrences.
Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary to meet production demands is required.
Qualifications:
Associate must be proficient in multiple craft skills needed to repair and manufacture mechanical and rotating equipment, including: pipefitting, welding and burning, machining, rigging, power transmission systems, pumps, shaft alignments, fluid power and machinery design.
Proficient use of calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators to measure tolerances as tight as .0005.
Must be proficient in the care and handling, installation, adjustment, lubrication and maintenance of anti-friction bearings.
Applicant must have both verbal and written communication skills.
Must have the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Must have mathematical skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals, along with ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate will demonstrate an understanding of gear geometry, measurement and nomenclature and be familiar with gear mesh operation including backlash and contact ratio.
Associate will demonstrate an understanding of and the ability to perform dynamic balancing of rotors and rotating elements.
Associate will demonstrate the ability to seat brushes on DC motors.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Under the direction of the Department Production Supervisor and in cooperation with the Team Leader, safely perform a variety of tasks to correctly assemble, fit, and join components in the production process of heavy and large mechanical products, per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule, making independent decisions with minimal direct supervision given appropriate instructions.

Key Deliverables
· Use tools properly to make or repair parts and products.
· Collaborate with other line workers in order to assemble products.
· Comply with all company and industry safety requirements.
· Accurately documents, such as diagrams, schematics, blueprints, or other verbal or written instructions.
· Identify any defective items and handle them according to establish procedures.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
· Cleans and assembles component parts, machined parts, and subassemblies
· Uses various hand tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools, and precision measuring instruments to complete tasks
· Removes burrs and rough spots from parts with hand file, hone stone, or portable pneumatic grinder
· Operates overhead cranes and forklifts to move parts and materials in and out of work area and to assemble large components Performs minor adjustments, repairs, or setups to equipment or machines under supervision
· Perform all required job functions in a safe manner consistent with plant safety standards and report any problems immediately to the team leader or Department Supervisor.

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
· High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
· 0-2 Years Heavy equipment manufacturing experience desired.
· Knowledge of commonly used mechanical concepts, practices, and procedures required.
· Relevant trade school or college course work desired.
· Ability to correctly use and read a tape measure, and read/understand job-related blueprints, required.
· Ability to read drawings and blueprints accurately.
· Able to operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
· Computer experience desired, particularly the ability to use a mouse, and locate and open/close files.
· Must be dependable, dedicated to completing work assignments correctly, and use time wisely.
· Adept at problem-solving. Adaptable to new situations and challenges. Open to changes and new ideas.

Manufacturing Environment
Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
