Responsibilities Peraton is seeking an Assembly Technician to support the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) by improving their rapid-capability delivery process. The team will provide expertise in research and development, systems engineering, mission development, modeling and simulation, as well as ground and flight operations. We are a (rad hard) team of builders, breakers, and fixers - delivering pulsed-power systems to accelerate the world's transition to fusion. Customers span defense, energy, and aerospace; our pulsed-power platforms (e.g., TITAN, Z-STAR) support nuclear effects testing now and fusion plants tomorrow. About the Role You will be responsible for the assembly, wiring and plumbing on electromechanical systems. Systems include vacuum, power generation, pulse forming section and oil system. You must be able to read mechanical and electrical drawings to be able to assemble, field and troubleshoot these complex systems. Job Requirements Assemble racks, HV/LV harnesses, enclosures, panels, and motion/actuation subsystems. Install pumps, valves, seals, gauges; leak-check and maintain oil and vacuum systems. Mount sensors, route signal cabling, and bring up data acquisition system (DAS)-oscilloscopes, probes, DMMs, and troubleshoot connection issues. Read schematics and harness drawings; crimp/terminate to specification; label, route and document work. Run electrical checkouts, resolve system noise, troubleshoot high voltage (HV) systems, and restore electromechanical systems to operational status. Preventive/corrective maintenance, spares, calibration, and readiness of tools and materials. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES Diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing radar and positioning systems. Working with the Engineering department to adapt or modify equipment to meet customer's requirements. Performing preventive maintenance inspections on equipment and to determine what maintenance is needed. Researching and ordering replacement components and spare parts for radar and position control system. Utilize safe rigging and lifting techniques. Setting up and testing various types of electronic equipment to determine equipment specifications and performance. Recommend improvements to maintenance methods, system and equipment performance as well as operational efficiencies. Analyzes work problems and recommends solutions. Train and mentor subordinate technicians Follows all OSHA Safety Regulations. Safely utilizes various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide efficient solutions. Maintains a strict schedule in order to successfully complete assignments on time. Other duties as assigned by Lead Technician, Management or Supervisor. Basic experience in operating, diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing instrumentation radar systems (from HF to microwave frequencies up to Ka Band). Must possess extensive working knowledge and technical experience in utilizing schematics, diagrams, and appropriate test equipment to solve analog and digital electronic problems as well as in motion control systems (Turntables , Rotators and Antenna positioning and control ) Basic experience in the set up and measurements of Electronic and Microwave systems and components. Antenna alignment and basic antenna gain measurements. Measurements of Radar Parameters ( PRF, PW, Duty Cycle, Transmit Receive Polarization) Power and performance measurements of High power amplifiers (TWTA, Klystron, Solid-State) Power and performance measurements of Low noise and general purpose amplifiers Solid state switches (high and low power and frequency) RF and microwave passive components Coaxial Cable and Waveguide Digital logic and circuitry AC and DC voltage, power and components Basic experience in setting up operating and performing measurements with test equipment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Three years' experience as an Engineering Technician or an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronics Technology, or Military training certifications in Depot level electronic maintenance and repair with demonstrated knowledge. High school diploma with demonstrated knowledge, and three years' experience. Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a technical competency test. Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. Possess a valid driver's license. Must be a United States Citizen. This position will require the ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance at our client's location and their customer program access.
