This role involves following computer-based work instructions, using hand tools and fixtures, and working collaboratively to meet production schedules. Key Responsibilities Assemble WFE using hand tools, torque wrenches, fixtures, and other equipment. Read, interpret, and navigate work instructions, schematics, and Cell Fusion procedures. Work effectively in team settings to maintain workflow and meet production timelines. Provide flexibility for changing priorities such as rework and pilot builds. Verify correct part delivery and perform visual inspection of all components prior to installation. Assist with audits by visually inspecting components and verifying checklists. Complete assigned tasks by confirming work accuracy, verifying Cell Fusion completion, and providing written descriptions of work performed. Maintain consistent alignment with company core values. Safety Responsibilities Complete all required safety training and follow all safe-work practices. Lift up to 35 lbs safely and utilize ergonomic tools and pads when needed. Follow all cleanroom protocols and use appropriate PPE. Adhere to Lockout Tagout policies and procedures (LOTO & ZEST). Use hoists, lift tracks, gantry cranes, and other lifting tools as required. Perform Risk Management By Walking Around (RMBWA) inspections and report or escalate safety hazards promptly. Respond quickly to unsafe practices and escalate unresolved safety concerns to appropriate leadership. Communication Expectations Communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing. Provide timely updates to supervisors and team members via email, phone, or in person. Participate actively in meetings and training sessions. Identify and report production issues promptly. Suggest process improvements to relevant teams. Communicate system status effectively during shift pass-downs. Physical Requirements (Requirements vary by site and product type) Ability to work 12+ hour shifts in a fast-paced environment. Lift and install parts up to 35 lbs. Kneel, crouch, squat, and reach into machines frequently. Work at a height of ~22 inches from the ground. Use manual tools such as wrenches, cutters, and screwdrivers. Comfortably climb up to a 10-step ladder. Push/pull assembly dollies requiring approximately 40 lbs of force. Navigate diagnostic software and distinguish wire colors. Maintain a clean, organized workspace. Flexibility for changing priorities, overtime, and rework assignments. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Skills & Qualifications Strong attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement. Ability to adapt to change and take initiative proactively. Comfortable using computer-based data systems and applications. Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams). Work closely with a cross-functional engineering team to develop next-generation industrial fiber laser components and systems. The successful candidate will: * Conduct initial proof-of-concept experiments * Build and characterize prototypes * Develop and document processes and tooling * Assist in transferring products to manufacturing, including training of operators * Maintain equipment, organize materials and supplies, and ensure safe operation of development labs * Troubleshoot problems in the development lab and the factory Desired Qualifications: * Associates Degree or higher in lasers, optics, electronics, or another engineering discipline, or equivalent experience in related technologies * Experience with high power lasers, optics, and fibers * Experience with tools and equipment for fiber processing and inspection * Experience supporting engineers working with lasers, fiber optics, electro-optic or opto-mechanical devices, or electronics * Meticulous attention to detail, highly organized, self-motivated * Experience with electronics and test equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power meters, CCD cameras or beam profilers, spectrum analyzers, etc. * Good written and verbal communication skills * Demonstrated problem-solving skills * Familiarity with mechanical drawings and basic tooling * Experience with Excel and data-analysis software * Training or experience in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control, and Design of Experiments nLIGHT is proud to offer comprehensive COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: * Starting level and pay depends on qualifications: * Engineering Technician I: $23.41 - $29.30 per hour * Engineering Technician II: $25.49 - $33.10 per hour Other Compensation and Benefits * Target Cash Bonus with potential payout of up to 2% of earned wages * 120 hours of paid Vacation per year, plus paid Sick Leave and 10 paid Holidays * Eligible for health benefits on the 1st day of the month after your start date * Medical, Dental and Vision Benefits, including prescription and orthodontia with employee-paid premiums as low as $40.00 per pay period * Company paid Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, and Life & AD&D Insurance * Employee Assistance Program * Aflac Supplemental Insurance * Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts * Employee Stock Purchase Plan * 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting * Jury Duty and Bereavement Leave Pay * Tuition Assistance * Pet Insurance nLIGHT is subject to US Export Control regulations.
