What our ASSEMBLER I does: Assembling the components of the job, which may include machining and/or assembling various millwork products such as exterior and interior door units. Operating machinery that modifies the product (ex. chop saws) Preparing the product for shipment by applying casing, sleeves, labels, etc. Inspecting the overall quality and accuracy of assembled product throughout the assembly process Repairing and disassembling returned or defective millwork to prepare it for resale or return to stock. Performing routine maintenance on all tools used including cleaning, oiling, checking to ensure proper functioning, calibrating machines, checking measuring tool accuracy, and notifying a supervisor of larger repairs or malfunctions. Working in a safe manner: Participating in all safety training and meetings Understanding and complying with the Company safety policy TOOLS USED: Include but are not limited to chop saw, table saw, rip saw, hand saw; router, nail gun, screw gun, door machine, various pneumatic tools, and drills. What you need to have: High School diploma or GED and one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence, effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using weight measurements, volume, and distance. Might require forklift certification, depending upon branch requirements. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Participate in updates of preventative maintenance schedules. Complete routine equipment and product inspections and complete required documentation. Troubleshoot and perform minor equipment repairs. Provide feedback to Maintenance and Supervisor as needed. Inform supervisor or Department Manager about processes or equipment requiring attention. Recommend and participate in completion of continuous improvement projects specifically designed to improve processes, productivity and quality, especially those related to corrective actions. Basic Job Functions: SUMMARY: The Mechanical Assembler I is responsible for final assembly of doors per the daily production schedule. To accomplish this, Mechanical Assemblers will review the daily requirements, work instructions, and bill of materials via i-Pad to locate and gather the needed components, and then the parts are staged, prepped and assembled. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform final assemblies of door orders and manufactured parts per the daily production schedule. Read and follows blueprints, work orders, and other instructions in order to build and assemble parts in an accurate and timely fashion. Pull stock components (small parts, hardware, and weldments). Attach motor, chain, straps or any other components needed per the bill of materials in the weldments. Ensure the quality and accuracy of the manufactured parts. Clean and properly mark final assembly. Inspect final assembly and move to staging area. Keep area clean and organized. Monitor stock levels. Troubleshoot issues that may arise.
