How you'll contribute
Receives inquiry calls and assists the caller with scheduling a face-to-face assessment to triage to the appropriate community referral
Assesses or ensures assessment by a qualified mental health professional of patients who present for assessment. Screens for medical and behavioral emergency conditions
Performs a comprehensive assessment and quality therapeutic care to patients seeking treatment of substance abuse, dual diagnosis or psychiatric or emotional disorders; coordinates with the clinical team/on-call physician to ensure these needs are met either at the facility or other appropriate community provider
Interprets treatment to patient and family to help reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of care and continuation of treatment

Qualifications and requirements:
Bachelor's degree in social work or counseling and current unencumbered clinical license per state of practice guidelines.
Prior experience with psychiatric and chemical dependency patients
Must have strong clinical assessment skills
CPR and CPI certified within 30 days of employment
May be required to work flexible hours

The Assessment Specialist receives inquiry calls and assists the caller with scheduling a face-to-face, phone, or tele-assessment-Triages individuals based on safety risk. Assesses or ensures assessment by a qualified mental health professional of patients who present for assessment. Screens for medical and behavioral emergency conditions. Performs a comprehensive assessment and quality therapeutic care to patients seeking treatment for substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders; coordinates with the clinical team/on-call physician to ensure these needs are met at the facility or other appropriate community providers. Interprets treatment to patient and family to help reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of care and continuation of treatment. Completes the administrative processes of admission and precertification of care with external payers, as necessary. Administer nursing care to ill or injured persons by assisting in caring for patients by giving direct care. The RN will coordinate and deliver quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients hospitalized for treatment of substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders. The RN will ensure the safety and well-being of each patient. The RN ensures all medical orders are followed, initiates and follows treatment planning, and acts as a patient advocate at all times.
An assessment specialist who excels in this role:
* Facilitates response to a request for services, including the initial response, the assessment, the referral process, the designation of the appropriate level of care, admission into services, and appropriate follow-up activity.
* Conducts initial evaluation, initiates the assessment, documents patient symptomology, functioning, and needs, and provides information to MD for LOC determination.
* Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers promptly and courteously.
* Possess clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA.

What we're looking for
Applicants should have a current state RN, LSW, or LPC license in Ohio and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school or BSW. Additional requirements include:
* Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred.
* Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities
* Current unencumbered license to practice by the State Board of Nursing
* CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
* Must be at least 21 years of age. May be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
* Ability to sit and stand (one-third of the shift) and walk (two-thirds of the shift).
