Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, the nations first cancer center founded in 1898, has made fundamental contributions to reducing the burden of cancer and has successfully maintained a leadership role in setting national standards for cancer care, research, and education. This multi-disciplinary research environment provides opportunities to interact with scientists and clinicians from numerous programs and departments, and the ability to conduct patient-oriented translational research in collaboration with clinicians. Roswell Park faculty have access to shared resources enabling application of state-of-the-art technology and unique clinical specimens to their research. The mission of GU-ORC is to foster highly collaborative research that accelerates the understanding of GU cancers and their treatment. GU-ORC is based in the Department of Urology to foster close interaction between practicing physicians and laboratory scientists, facilitating clinical translation. GU-ORC currently consists of more than 30 faculty with multidisciplinary interests in studying the cellular, genetic, epigenetic, metabolic, immunologic, ancestral, and behavioral factors underlying GU cancer development, progression, and therapy resistance. GU-ORC is seeking to expand the scope of its laboratory based scientific research in areas broadly relevant to GU cancers. This may include relevant areas of fundamental cancer biology, genomics technology development applicable to the study of GU cancers, creation and use of pre-clinical GU cancer models, novel approaches for analyzing GU cancer clinical specimens, and translation of novel research discoveries to clinical application. Candidates should have a Ph.D. or comparable degree in biomedical research and/or clinical science. Ideal candidates for this position will have strong potential to develop an extramurally funded research program. A commitment to graduate-level mentoring, and teaching is expected. This position requires a commitment to the scientific and clinical activities in the GU-ORC as well as Roswell Park Cancer Center Support Grant programmatic activities. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience Doctoral degree in an appropriate scientific or clinical-based discipline and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in an applicable scientific or clinical research environment. This is a co-management between the individual/family and/or guardian and People Inc. as the hiring agency. There is required communication with your People Inc. Supervisor on a regular basis. Job Summary The Custodial Assistant performs general custodial duties in connection with the cleaning and maintenance of buildings in the Auxiliary Enterprises Division. Essential Functions Removes trash and waste from assigned areas and places at designated site to ensure clean and sanitary conditions and the proper handling of recyclable materials. Washes trash and waste receptacles by scrubbing containers and rinsing with hose to provide sanitary conditions and minimize pest infestation. Cleans and restocks bathrooms and lavatories by cleaning and disinfecting toilets, sinks, showers, stall partitions and floor areas to ensure clean, sanitary and disinfected facilities. Maintains walls, ceilings, doors and horizontal surfaces by dusting and washing with detergent solutions to provide a clean and attractive facility. Maintains furniture by dusting, washing with detergent solution and polishing to provide a clean and attractive facility. Cleans glass and mirrors by washing with glass cleaning solution to provide a clean and attractive facility. Maintains carpeted areas by vacuuming and spot cleaning to prolong life of carpet and maintain a clean and attractive facility. Maintains hard floor surfaces by sweeping, mopping, stripping and waxing to prolong life of floor surfaces and maintain a clean and attractive facility. Assists in keeping exterior areas immediately adjacent to buildings clean by sweeping, removing trash, and removing snow and ice to maintain safe and attractive entrances to our facilities. Moves and arranges furniture per specific room plans and to accommodate client needs. Other Functions Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure) Knowledge of the methods used in institutional cleaning.
