    Primarily responsible for assisting the team teachers in conducting activities, maintaining classroom environment, and supervising children. Required Qualifications: High-school diploma or equivalency Have at least a CDA (Child Development Associate), are enrolled in a CDA program to be completed within 2 years, or are enrolled in a program leading to an Associate's or Bachelor's degree. Valid Driver's License and the ability to be insured under the agency policy Must obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, and Communicable Disease training Must be able to successfully complete a drug screen and health physical Must be able to pass a criminal background check Experience working with a licensed child care provider is preferred Essential Functions: The Assistant Teacher is primarily responsible for achieving the following outcomes for the Head Start/Early Head Start program: Education, Disabilities and School Readiness Assists teacher in assessing each child's growth and development by sharing observations and encouraging parental input when possible. Coordinates with team teachers to plan and implement a daily schedule of developmentally appropriate activities to be used individually and in small and large group settings in the classroom. Helps provide quality teacher interactions with children based on the implementation of CLASS (Head Start) and TPITOS (Early Head Start). Supports the social, emotional, cognitive, language and physical development of children in the classroom. Eats with the children in a family-style setting and provides activities to support and broaden each child's food experiences. Communication and Service Coordination Assists with recruitment to ensure that full enrollment is maintained throughout the year. Planning, Analysis and Documentation Assists with setting up for meals in classroom, takes meal counts and records, and cleans up following meal time. Supports team teacher with Child Plus documentation. 7. Operations and Facilities Assist Lead Teacher and Center Coordinator in arrangement, materials and equipment, and safety of classroom and center. Participate in monthly and yearly safety checks of facilities. 8. Program Governance Participate in staff meetings and other meetings to become familiar with the philosophies, regulations, and policies of the program. 9. Professionalism and Leadership Creates and updates a professional development plan with the Center Coordinator and shares obtained information from any training attended with colleagues as appropriate. Participates in team teaching, staff meetings, conferences, required agency trainings, institutes of higher learning, and other opportunities that enhance professional development.
