The Facility Maintenance Assistant is an entry-level position accountable for all general maintenance aspects of the facility through accurate communication, budget accountability, and task execution while ensuring the facility is in a tour-ready condition at all times. Typical Pay Range: $18.00 - $26.65 Full Pay Range for position: California: $20.70 - $33.30 Colorado: $18.00 - $28.00 New York: $19.80 - $33.30 Washington: $18.90 - $30.65 Maryland: $18.90 - $29.30 Washington DC: $20.70 - $30.65 Illinois: $18.00 - $29.30 New Jersey: $20.70 - $30.65 Vermont: $18.00 - $26.65 Ohio: $18.00 - $26.65 The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills. Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates, both full time and part time, can immediately enroll in Bread Financial's 401(k) plan. All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Full-time hourly associates receive a bi-annual grant of Paid Time Off ("PTO") in each January and July based on their service date and scheduled hours, whereas newly hired full time hourly associates in their first year of employment receive a prorated PTO grant on their 61st day of employment based on the month of hire and scheduled hours. Associates will receive a payout of any unused PTO, up to 40 hours, paid out in the next calendar year (except associates in Alaska, California, Colorado, Montana and Nebraska who are paid for all unused PTO). Additionally, hourly associates (except those in California) generally receive 72 hours of Paid Sick Leave Plus ("PSL+") per calendar year, with a pro-rated grant in the associate's first year of employment to the extent allowed by applicable law. If additional PSL+ is required in a particular jurisdiction, the company with comply with applicable law. Unused PSL+ does not carry over from one calendar year to the next unless required by applicable law. Instead of PSL+, hourly associates in California receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time ("PSST") upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year.     Otterbein University is in search of an HVAC Mechanic who performs skilled work installing, maintaining and repairing heating, ventilating, and cooling systems; high temperature high-pressure hot water generation and distribution system; central absorption chiller and cold water circulation system; pneumatic control systems, and commercial kitchen equipment. This is a non-exempt, bi-weekly, union position working 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. * Installs, maintains, repairs, replaces and alters piping of iron, steel, copper, plastic or other materials as required to supply and operate heating, cooling, and ventilating equipment. * Installs, operates, repairs, replaces and provides preventative maintenance for heating, cooling, ventilating and pumping equipment throughout the campus. * Installs, maintains and repairs piping and equipment insulation as required. * Installs and replaces filtering equipment and media as required. * Adjusts operating components and controls as required to maintain efficiency of the heating and cooling systems. * Inspects and maintains/repairs hot and chilled water circulating systems throughout the tunnel systems. * Maintains and operates chemical treatment systems. * Assists management in planning and estimating of time and material requirements for campus projects. * Performs inspections of boilers, heaters, and elevators. * Assists other University employees in the performance of their duties as required by University priorities or as directed. * Maintains pertinent logbooks to document proper operating procedure of control utilities. * Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: May supervise student workers and others assigned to HVAC crew. May be assigned to supervise other craftsmen in accomplishing HVAC projects. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED. Completion of an apprentice program in HVAC or four years directly related experience. Two years' experience working with hot water generators, trim requirements and methods, safety systems and precautions, and precaution of hot water generator and distribution system. Two years' experience working with absorption chillers, cooling towers, and chilled water distribution systems. Two years' experience in working with water softeners, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Refrigeration Certification required. Must possess and maintain a valid state of Ohio's driver's license and obtain Otterbein's Decision Driving Certification LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must demonstrate competency in verbal and written English skills including grammar. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be competent in general math. TECHNICAL SKILLS: Must take pride in and be thorough in quality of work produced; Knowledge of elevator mechanisms, institutional kitchen equipment, HVAC code requirements, pneumatic compressors and pneumatic distribution systems, including pneumatic controls, thermostats, and activation devices. Strong knowledge of DDC and computerized energy management systems preferred. Strong knowledge of indoor quality issues (i.e., radon, mold, and remediation practices). Ability to climb and work from ladders, lifts, scaffolds and in tunnels. Must have supervisory experience. Ability to work from sketches, blueprints and oral instructions. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs on a frequent basis. Ability and skill in using and caring for hand and power tools.
