Bachman's was founded in 1885 and remains a family-owned business, with fifth-generation Bachman family members leading the company today. Bachman's operates six full-service Floral, Gift & Garden Centers throughout the Twin Cities, a gift shop in the Galleria, a Hardscapes Center in Farmington, and 28 floral departments within Lunds & Byerlys grocery stores. Additionally, Bachman's operates indoor and outdoor landscaping divisions, a weddings and special events department, a wholesale nursery division, seven acres of greenhouses, and a 670-acre growing range in Lakeville, Minn., which produces many of the plants, flowers, and landscaping products sold by Bachman's today.
The Assistant Nursery Person-Nursery Container Production position will be a part of a union.
DUTIES:
+ Assist with all Nursery Person Duties as directed.
+ Mix potting soil as directed.
+ Provide work Direction to Nursery helpers and seasonal employees as directed.
+ Operate all nursery equipment as directed.
+ Maintain communication with supervisor on all pest or cultural problems and needs.
+ Perform light vehicle maintenance duties. Report equipment problems to supervisor immediately.
+ Maintain and submit accurate records paperwork as necessary.
+ Perform other duties that includes duties of lower classifications as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ High School diploma plus two-year certificate or related field and one-year nursery production experience.
+ A working knowledge of common land scape plants in Minnesota preferred.
+ Alternative qualifications are two years of nursery landscape production setting or one year as a nursery helper or seasonal nursery worker at Bachman's.
+ Must be able to operate variety of nursery equipment possibly including farm tractor, skid loader, forklift, front-end-loader, tree spade, and semi-tractor/trailer.
+ Plant health knowledge and pesticide application experience very desirable.
+ Microsoft office knowledge a plus.
+ Conversational Spanish speaking ability preferred.
+ MNLA Nursery Professional Certification preferred.
