Job Summary Dalton State College School of Health Professions seeks a full-time, tenure track, Assistant Professor of Social Work. Faculty workload at Dalton State College consists of the following five components: (1) teaching, (2) student success, (3) research/scholarship/creative activity or academic achievement, (4) professional service to the institution or community, and (5) professional growth. Other duties include advising and mentoring students, keeping office hours, developing curriculum, assessment of student learning, providing service to the campus and community, and undertaking professional development. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, off-campus, or online courses. Summer teaching may be available on a competitive basis Position beginning August 1, 2026. Must have a master's degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program and a minimum of five years' practice experience. LMSW licensure required. LCSW licensure or licensure eligible highly preferred. PhD or DSW in social work desired. Teaching experience in a higher education setting strongly desired. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred. The Dalton State Social Work program is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. This position should be a clinician able to teach across the BSW curriculum and specifically generalist micro practice courses. The successful candidate will be a gifted preacher and teacher, able to teach students at the master's and doctoral levels to be faithful biblical preachers in the Anglican tradition within the liturgical context of the Book of Common Prayer (1979). They will teach core and elective classes to M.Div students preparing for ordained ministry in the Episcopal Church, teaching essential skills in public speaking and the effective communication of the gospel message by students with a wide range of abilities and backgrounds. They will also teach classes in homiletics to master's and doctoral students in the School of Theology's Advanced Degree Program, and they will advise doctoral theses in homiletics. They will generally teach two classes a term and teach doctoral students regularly in the Advanced Degree Program in June. Under the leadership of the successful candidate, through the combination of coursework and chapel life, students will be given a basic working knowledge of the lectionary, the rhythms of the liturgical year, and how to preach effectively in a variety of different contexts within the Episcopal Church. To qualify for an appointment at the assistant professor level or higher, candidates must hold a Doctorate in Chemistry or a related field. Those with a Master's degree in Chemistry may be considered for a non-tenure lecturer position. We will consider two areas of expertise for this position. We are primarily seeking expertise in Organic Chemistry, but will consider candidates who can teach Quantitative Analysis. The role of an Organic Chemist will primarily involve teaching organic chemistry and general, organic, and biochemistry courses to nursing students. These courses support our biochemistry, pre-medical, pre-nursing, and pre-physician assistant programs. The role of a Quantitative Chemist would focus on general chemistry, quantitative analysis, and overseeing laboratories, including organic chemistry. A strong record of effective teaching is preferred. Individuals from underrepresented populations are highly encouraged to apply.
