Job Description: The Department of English at The University of Florida invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position to teach in the BA track and MFA program in the field of creative writing, fiction specialization, effective August 16, 2026. The normal teaching assignment is two courses per semester. The successful candidate will be expected to 1) maintain an active writing and publication career, 2) teach four courses per academic year at the undergraduate and graduate level, and mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students, 3) contribute service to the Department, the university, and the profession. The University of Florida has significant breadth and depth in neuroscience research. This includes, for example, research in neuro- and neuromuscular imaging, movement disorders, spinal cord injury and stroke, neurodegenerative diseases, and neurorehabilitation. Focus is now being placed on leveraging the existing strengths of UF to recruit faculty in biostatistics and epidemiology who can serve as neuroscience principal investigators and collaborators. There is a tremendous need for faculty who can perform epidemiological/clinical epidemiology/biostatistics studies in neurosciences. Some examples include the genetics of Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease; risk factors for poor neurodevelopment in children; neuroprevention; the effects of exposure (e.g., cannabis) on neurocognition; the downstream effects of early- and mid-life social determinants of health on late life cognitive trajectories; rehabilitation for those with neurological disorders; proper modeling of neuroimaging data; and integration of genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and imaging data to understand neurological conditions and responses to therapy.
