This position provides training and guidance to other members in the Firearm Eligibility Bureau (FEB). Responsibilities We are seeking highly qualified applicants with research on fluid dynamics in the near-shore and offshore environments. The specific focus of this search is to expand the collaboration with the faculty in structural and geotechnical engineering. Applicants with significant overlap with the current faculty expertise (ex, focus on wind tunnel testing or focus on structural mechanics rather than fluid mechanics) will not be competitive.
The candidate must show evidence of research and collaboration in fluid-structure interaction such as wind-structure or wave-structure interactions. We are especially interested in a candidate with an interdisciplinary background and research experience. Example areas of interest include but not limited to:
* CFD simulations of wind or wave effects on structures
* Computational modeling of turbulence in atmospheric boundary layer winds
* Hydroelasticity and wave mechanics (in a scale relevant to typical coastal structures)
* Hydrodynamic loads on offshore platforms and energy structures

Qualifications
Candidates must possess an earned Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering or a closely related discipline. Post-doctoral experience in related topic areas is preferred. The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a robust externally funded research program, have a strong commitment to teaching excellence in undergraduate and graduate courses, and participate in college and professional service. Possession of a Professional Engineering (PE) License or the ability to obtain a Florida PE license is highly desirable.

Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctorate in Animal Science or closely related field prior to the start date is required.
A candidate with a DVM/PhD will be given preference.
Recommended Competencies
The successful candidate must be able to teach using both traditional and online formats. The candidate will also be able to develop a develop a relevant and impactful research and/or extension program in Animal Science. The candidate must be able to display teaching and advising competence with our students and the capability of participating in multidisciplinary and /or multi-institution/multi-state animal research /extension projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in Swine Production and/or Poultry Science;
Wide experiences in animal agriculture;
Successful experience teaching students from a variety of backgrounds would be an advantage; and,
Strong research / extension profile in animal agriculture is strongly desired as is the ability to work with interdisciplinary teams and in multicultural environments.
Licenses and Certifications
None required, but evidence of teaching certifications would be an advantage.

The Animal Science program in FAMU's College of Agriculture and Food Sciences is the largest student program with many PreVet students. The successful candidate is expected to do everything possible to make it possible for the students and the program to be continue to be successful. The program also has a close relationship with a Veterinary Technology program and the successful candidate is also expected to support that relationship.
