Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Minimum 10 years of experience in transportation project delivery, with a minimum of 5years of experience in construction management or equivalent, and prior experience leading and mentoring staff. Accurately apply WSDOT policy and standards to highway design elements and construction contract administration and complete the projects safely, on time, and within budget. Ability to review design and contract documents Assist the Project Engineers with Design-Build procurement and delivery. Coordinate with Public Outreach to develop and implement project communication/outreach strategies. Provide leadership, management, and engineering oversight to staff.


Ideally, you'll also have:


Washington State Professional Engineer license An understanding of the policies and recommended procedures for delivering a Design-Build projects. Prior knowledge of design and construction principles and practices, contracting methods and procedures, and construction methods. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing with the ability to evaluate, coordinate, and respond to partners, stakeholders and staff. Ability to make timely, effective decision in the best interest of the projects and the organization.

Overview:


Our client is seeking an Assistant Project Engineer, Mechanical Design Manager to support Project Cardinal in New Albany, OH. This position falls within the Manufacturing and Technology Business Unit.


Role and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Resident Engineering Manager (REM) and the Project Engineering Management Team in the supervision of the engineering activities for the engineering discipline(s) as necessary on the project. Under the direction of the REM, assists in the planning and directing of engineering assignments for the project(s). Has responsibilities for interfacing with other execution centers (if utilized), interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating the assignments/tasks associated with the project.
• Work directly with our customer(s) and our senior management on matters relating to project engineering progress, quality, scope and technical/permitting issues.
• Direct the establishment of work process integration and systems implementation for the programmatic design process.
• Establish and maintain access to technical experts in the advanced technologies pertinent to the project and sets up channels of communication to bring this expertise to bear effectively on the engineering effort.
• Champion the creation of a work environment, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction on the project.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution and 10 years of Engineering experience.
• Professional license or registration in an engineering discipline.
• Minimum 2 years prior experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams in work process development.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experienced in BIM design and federated modeling requirements/processes.
• Experienced in the design of supporting systems, equipment layout and optimization for modular design considerations.
• Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to building design.
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge in Mechanical / Process systems in a semiconductor manufacturing/ operations

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Engineering or related curriculum or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 5 years Engineering experience. 1 year Project management experience. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 years for Masters and 4 years for PhD in fields applicable to this job.

Position Purpose :

Under the guidance of senior project engineering personnel, leads engineering teams in the execution of projects or segments of engineering programs. Establishes requirements, operational objectives and work plans for the successful completion of those efforts.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

1. Responsible for planning, organizing and conducting segments of engineering projects with diversified technical requirements. .
2. Defines project work scope, develops statements of work, task descriptions, product plans, budget estimates and manpower requirements.
3. Assigns tasks to functional personnel and suppliers for specific projects and provides the necessary project direction to meet schedules and fulfill requirements.
4. Provides project management between engineering sections and all related functions including program management, other departments, suppliers, consultants, and customers.
5. Anticipates problems with assigned projects (technical, budget, schedule) and recommends appropriate action to prevent their occurrence.
6. Effectively reports to management on key project accomplishments, status, issues and budget. .
7. Approves project related engineering data to assure compliance with corporate policies and FAA/military requirements as required.

Additional Functions:

1. Works under direct leadership and guidance of a senior-level project engineer. .
2. Actively works to improve daily processes and ensures all work meets customer requirements. .
3. Maintains a current knowledge of technical developments. .

Perform other duties as assigned.
