    **Remote Internship Positions Available** The International Center for Terrorism Studies (ICTS) educates policymakers and the public in general on the nature and intensity of terrorism threats in the 21st century. The ICTS has sponsored, co-sponsored, and participated in hundreds of seminars, briefings, and conferences in the United States, UK, France, India, Israel, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Japan, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Ukraine, etc. In addition, the ICTS has published over 40 books and numerous reports on topics including Super Terrorism: Biological, Chemical, and Nuclear; Terrorism and the Law; terrorist group profiles of ETA (Spain) and Usama bin Laden's al-Qaida; Terrorism: U.S. Perspectives; Information Warfare and Cyber-Terrorism; Terrorism and Business; and Legal Aspects of Terrorism in the United States. ICTS Internship Description: As a member of the ICTS team, you will have the opportunity to conduct fast-paced research on relevant topics of your choice. You will learn valuable life-long skills to improve your research, writing, and analysis that are applicable to the professional world. You can make your own schedule and are expected to work between 10-20 hours per week. The internship typically lasts the duration of an academic semester but exceptions can be made in certain circumstances. Intern Duties: Conducting research on terrorism and counterterrorism; Monitoring regional insurgencies, ethnic conflicts and peace processes; Developing and maintaining a database on terrorism and regional developments; Compiling bibliographies, chronologies, and summarizing research materials as directed; Collecting and assembling data; Contributing to ICTS publications and reports by assisting with copy editing and proofreading; As well as providing a full range of administrative support. (90% research based, 10% administrative support). Requirements: 3.25 or higher GPA with a background or interest in terrorism, ethnic conflict, political violence, international affairs, history, public policy, and law are preferred, though others accepted. Foreign language and international experience are desired. Candidates should have relevant research, writing, and editing experience, excellent organization and communication skills, strong MS Office skills, and the ability to prioritize a heavy workload.     EduCorps is undertaking a qualitative community-based study aimed at identifying/understanding the preparation and ongoing training of teachers in the four nations that make up the Great Lakes Region of Africa (DRC, Rwanda, Uganda, and Burundi). The results of this study will guide the programmatic actions of EduCorps and serve as a baseline against which results can be measured once EduCorps commences servicing schools in the target countries. The project will achieve this goal by studying and reporting: -- Individual teacher preparation and training; -- Ministerial requirements for preparation, training, and the availability of programs providing ongoing support to teachers; -- Parental goals for the education of their children including the most desirable outcome of education. We are seeking the support of four graduate students in any of these areas - education, development, public policy or international relations - who seek field work in Africa and possess practical implementation of data collection and/or survey methodologies. There will be four research teams, one for each country. Research teams will be comprised individual graduate students (one per location) and their local partners. These teams will: -- Participate in all aspects of the research project, taking into account individual and organizational capacities (skills, human, and other resources); -- Participate in team meetings, learning exchanges, the formulation of research questions, provide suggestions and feedback on the methodology; -- Provide input on recruitment of research subjects, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, and dissemination; -- Be responsible for coordinating onsite administration, coordinating outreach to potential partners, setting/up coordinating research interviews, conducting interviews, collecting data including the delivery of interview notes/videos/tapes to the EduCorps leadership; -- Be responsible for drafting/editing of the research report. We intend to support these students by raising funds to pay for travel, room, board, insurance, and materials.
