What Does An Assistant Service Manager Do At Carmax

* Ensure that Service Consultants meets and greets all customers in a prompt and courteous manner.
* If all Service Consultants are busy with other customers, personally assist customer.
* Continually observe and mentor the Service Consultants to enforce good habits, and to ensure "Exceptional Customer Service" at all times.
* Track Sales penetration and CSI scores on a daily basis.
* Create an environment of friendly competition so that all Service Consultants will compete to be the best
* Handle all customer concerns in a quick, efficient, and friendly manner.
* Be proactive and anticipate potential customer issues before they seek assistance from senior management.
* Process and track all CarMax "Care" claims
* Ensure that drive aisle and write-up area is kept organized, clean of trash, and vehicles are cleared at all times throughout the day
* Be available to assist and mentor Service Consultants during peak delivery time, greeting customers and ensuring that all aspects of a proper deliver are completed - explanation, answer questions, and complete a CSI survey.
* Work one-on-one with individual Service Consultants to assist with CSI and/or sales opportunities
* Perform all duties of the Service Manager in his/her absence
* Ensure that Service Consultant position properly staffed at all times
* Participate and endorse all CarMax Training initiatives.
* Ensure the successful career development of the members of your Team through adherence to the CarMax File reviews, Performance Management and the Merit Review Process.
* Review monthly Labor Operations Usage and capacity planning

* Directly supervise several hourly staff and student employees.
* Responsible for meeting budgetary goals and objectives as outlined by the Dining Service Manager.
* With the management team, assist in maintaining and enforcing quality food preparation and presentation as outlined by the culinary team.
* Responsible for ensuring proper cash handling such as balancing the safe, making deposits, training staff on proper cashiering procedures.
* Supervises food preparation and service areas in a dining facility as assigned by the Dining Service Manager, keeping them informed of all equipment, production, service or employee challenges.
* Assists Dining Services Manager with personnel matters including hiring, training, and evaluating hourly staff.
* Schedules personnel to ensure hours worked meet operational needs and fall within budget guidelines.
* Assign daily duties to staff members appropriately to meet the needs of the shift.
* Participates in managing time for payroll.
* Assist with purchasing, inventory, portion control, maintaining food costs.
* Utilize a departmental food production system for forecasting, ordering, production, inventory and financial evaluation.
* Assist with the administration of training programs for student and hourly staff as assigned by the Dining Service Manager.
* Assist in inspecting kitchens, service areas and dining rooms to ensure compliance with campus Safety and Environmental Management directives, State Health Department standards and departmental quality assurance programs.
* Prepare, provides and utilizes appropriate statistical information on a timely basis including sales and labor analyses, through put and spoilage.
* Recommends courses of action for continued process improvement.
* Participates in special events including departmental events as directed.
* Work effectively and cooperatively with other members of UMaine Dining staff, UMaine administration, the campus community, and other external clients and customers.
* Develops and maintain professional relationships that reflect courtesy, civility, and mutual respect
