What is an assistant spa manager and how to become one

Updated January 8, 2025
3 min read

The assistant spa manager is the second-in-command of the spa manager. Their primary role is to support the spa manager in daily duties and administrative tasks, which usually include attending to customer queries, scheduling appointments, overseeing staff, and monitoring spa inventory.

Assistant spa managers mostly work in the back office of the spa, but may roam the facilities regularly and occasionally work at the front desk. Aside from administrative tasks, they may also be responsible for handling any customer and employee issues that arise, especially when the spa manager is unavailable.

Most spas require assistant spa managers to have at least a bachelor's degree in hospitality or business, but high school graduates may also qualify for the role. In addition to that, assistant spa managers must have great organizational skills, leadership skills, and customer service skills to be successful in their job responsibilities.

The average salary of an assistant spa manager is about $39,000 a year. Over time, they may rise to the position of spa manager and earn a higher income.
