    Gamma.App

Remote assistant system engineer trainee job

We're building the creative layer for modern communication. Every month, over a billion people make presentations - but the tools they use to make them haven't evolved in decades. We're changing that, using AI to disrupt a massive market. 📈 Millions of people rely on Gamma to create, teach, and persuade, creating more than 1 million gammas every day. 💻 We see Gamma as the next great workplace tool, combining viral B2C love with a massive B2B opportunity. We believe AI can be a true creative partner: one that understands context, clarity, and taste. 💸 We've reached a $2.1B valuation, crossed $100M in annual recurring revenue, and have been profitable since 2023. 💙 We're an imaginative, passionate team who takes our work seriously, but not ourselves. Our culture is warm, a little quirky, and fueled by curiosity. About the role You'll protect Gamma's platform, infrastructure, and data as we scale to serve hundreds of millions of users. This means building security tooling and automation, partnering with engineering teams to bake security into everything we ship, and helping shape our security culture. You'll work across the entire organization to identify and mitigate risks while keeping our development velocity high. This role combines hands‑on security engineering with strategic influence. You'll write code to solve security problems, conduct architecture reviews, lead vulnerability management, and drive security initiatives for compliance frameworks like SOC 2 and ISO 27001. You'll collaborate closely with engineering, product, and compliance teams to ensure security is foundational, not an afterthought. Our team has a strong in‑office culture and works in person 4-5 days per week in San Francisco. We love working together to stay creative and connected, with flexibility to work from home when focus matters most. What you'll do Design and implement security controls across Gamma's AWS infrastructure and application layer Build security tooling and automation to detect, prevent, and respond to threats at scale Conduct security reviews of architecture designs, code, and infrastructure changes Lead vulnerability management programs, coordinate bug bounty responses, and prioritize remediation Develop and maintain security monitoring, alerting, and incident response capabilities Partner with engineering teams to implement secure coding practices and conduct threat modeling sessions What you'll bring 5+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2-3 years focused on security engineering or application security Strong hands‑on experience securing AWS environments (IAM, VPC, security groups, CloudTrail, GuardDuty) Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, TypeScript/Node.js, Go preferred) for building security tools Deep understanding of web application security (OWASP Top 10, XSS, CSRF, injection attacks, authentication/authorization flaws) Experience implementing security controls in CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, CloudFormation) Strong communication skills and experience working collaboratively with product engineering teams Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools and log analysis (Nice to have) Background in penetration testing, red teaming, or offensive security (Nice to have) AWS security certifications (Security Specialty, Certified Security Engineer) (Nice to have) Experience at a high‑growth SaaS startup navigating rapid scaling and compliance needs (Nice to have)> Compensation range Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to experience and expertise in the requirements listed above. If you're interested in this role but you don't meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply anyway! We're always excited about meeting great people. We're building on a full Typescript stack centered around some of the most modern and popular technologies. We use our own custom, open‑source AI prompting framework, AIJSX. We have a lot of custom tools built in-house, but also new ones like Vercel AI SDK. Our tiny team operates at massive scale: 1 M+ 70 M users around the world 6 M+ AI images generated daily 1 trillion LLM tokens processed per month Life at Gamma You get energy from small teams doing big things. You love when design, code, and storytelling overlap. You default to action, even when the answer isn't clear yet. You value details, but know when to ship and move on. You bring both the spreadsheets and the sparkle, equal parts workhorse and unicorn. You believe AI should amplify creativity, not replace it. You know kindness and intensity are not opposites. You like working with people who care deeply: about their craft, their teammates, and the users on the other side of the screen. Who we are Gamma is full of imaginative, passionate people who take their work seriously but not themselves. The culture is warm, a little quirky, and fueled by curiosity. It's the kind of place where you'll debate a pixel on Monday, laugh over someone's keyboard setup on Tuesday, and ship something remarkable by Friday. We care about craft, move with intention, and don't mind getting a little scrappy. It's fast, creative, and occasionally chaotic - but that's what makes it interesting. Here's a bit about what it's like to work here, from people on the inside: “quirky, inspiring, fun, a little wild in the best way” “You can have an idea and just run with it.” “Everyone's talented and humble - the mix keeps you sharp.” “We ship cool stuff, learn a ton, and laugh a lot doing it.” Meet the team We're a team of dreamers and doers building in beautiful San Francisco 🌉 We're kabbadi enthusiasts, pickleballers, dog herders, woodworkers, keyboard nerds, potters, and more - and we can't wait to meet you! #J-18808-Ljbffr

  • Senior Software Engineer, Home Lending

    Upstart 4.0company rating

Assistant system engineer trainee job in Columbus, OH

Upstart is the leading AI lending marketplace partnering with banks and credit unions to expand access to affordable credit. By leveraging Upstart's AI marketplace, Upstart-powered banks and credit unions can have higher approval rates and lower loss rates across races, ages, and genders, while simultaneously delivering the exceptional digital-first lending experience their customers demand. More than 80% of borrowers are approved instantly, with zero documentation to upload. Upstart is a digital-first company, which means that most Upstarters live and work anywhere in the United States. However, we also have offices in San Mateo, California; Columbus, Ohio; and Austin, Texas. Most Upstarters join us because they connect with our mission of enabling access to effortless credit based on true risk. If you are energized by the impact you can make at Upstart, we'd love to hear from you! The Team: We're a small team building our own business. Our first product, launched summer ‘23, is a home equity line of credit (HELOC) for homeowners. Our next product is a home loan (mortgage) for homebuyers. It will be the most complex product Upstart has built to date, and we need more talented, creative engineers to help us make it happen! Why Mortgage? This industry is the largest category of consumer credit in the US, with over $2 trillion in originations last year. This is where Upstart can make its biggest impact. Why us? The market has left behind millions Americans with imperfect credit or difficult-to-document income. Serving these customers is Upstart's bread and butter, and it's core to our mission. Because we use machine learning to assess creditworthiness versus a fixed formula more than a decade old (FICO), we're able to extend loans to prospective homeowners that our competitors just can't. We've proven this model with personal loans and auto loans, and now we want to bring this access to where families feel it the most: where they live. We want our team to reflect the people we're serving. To serve customers at the fringes, we need people who think at the fringes-weird, quirky, out-of-the-box do-ers who reason from first principles and not from the status quo. We leave our ego at the door and crave being proven wrong. We're a high-empathy team, and we succeed as a team first, individuals second. As a senior engineer on one of Upstart's newest teams, you're a leader who can work across the whole stack, who doesn't need roads paved for you before you take action. You can work in the frontend (React) or the backend (Kotlin), but you might specialize in one. You're an individual contributor who uses tech to ply your craft, but you excel at thinking like a product manager and a business owner when needed. You can handle high-stakes calls with 3rd parties and customers, and you thrive on making decisions that impact not just how we build but what we build. Finally, you're a mentor, and you take seriously the responsibility to coach and grow each of the engineers around you. How you'll make an impact: Beyond leveraging our existing tech (AWS, Kafka, Spring Boot, Next.js, Kubernetes, Kotlin, React), here's how you'll make an impact: Lead successful cross-team and/or multi-quarter, multi-engineer projects Proactively search out ways to expand impact that extends well beyond the Jira board Turn team-specific projects into opportunities to up-level the team and the org's tech platform Know the product as well as the EM and PM and contribute to the product vision/strategy Propose and deliver new ideas that achieve meaningful improvements to our team's business metrics Contribute in a meaningful way to quality improvements within our team What we're looking for: Minimum requirements: 5+ years professional experience in fullstack software 3+ years proficiency in Kotlin, Java, or C#. (Our backend is in Kotlin, but Java and C# are similar enough that you can learn on the job.) Some hands-on experience with a JavaScript framework like React Some hands-on experience with SQL databases and domain modeling Preferred qualifications: Excellent written and verbal communication. As a senior engineer, a big part of your job will be mentoring others and representing our team in cross-functional, cross-team, or even cross-company conversations. And you'll need to tailor your communication style to fit these different audiences' needs. Preference for face-time and synchronous collaboration. We're a distributed team of remote workers (from coast to coast), and while we predominantly build asynchronously, we prefer facetime when collaborating in a tight feedback loop. You'll need to be comfortable with a few hours of Zoom per day (e.g. mob programming) to excel in this role. Enthusiasm for non-coding responsibilities. Design and coding will be ~70% of your job. The rest will be influencing the direction of the people and the product around you-for instance, by researching and proposing a new product idea to key stakeholders. Comfortable challenging authority. We want engineers who can push back on their managers when they think we're going down the wrong path. Related: you thrive in environments where you are expected to think like an owner and make decisions like one. Travel Requirements - This team has regular on-site collaboration sessions. These occur 3 days per quarter at an Upstart office. If you need to travel to make these meetups, Upstart will cover all travel related expenses. What you'll love: Competitive Compensation (base + bonus & equity) Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with Health Savings Account contributions from Upstart 401(k) with 100% company match up to $4,500 and immediate vesting and after-tax savings Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) Life and disability insurance Generous holiday, vacation, sick and safety leave Supportive parental, family care, and military leave programs Annual wellness, technology & ergonomic reimbursement programs Social activities including team events and onsites, all-company updates, employee resource groups (ERGs), and other interest groups such as book clubs, fitness, investing, and volunteering Catered lunches + snacks & drinks when working in offices #LI-REMOTE #LI-MidSenior At Upstart, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the below range. Your actual base pay will depend on your geographic location-with our “digital first” philosophy, Upstart uses compensation regions that vary depending on location. Individual pay is also determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. In addition, Upstart provides employees with target bonuses, equity compensation, and generous benefits packages (including medical, dental, vision, and 401k). United States | Remote - Anticipated Base Salary Range$163,600-$226,400 USD Upstart is a proud Equal Opportunity Employer. We are dedicated to ensuring that underrepresented classes receive better access to affordable credit, and are just as committed to embracing diversity and inclusion in our hiring practices. We celebrate all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, and know that we can only become better together. If you require reasonable accommodation in completing an application, interviewing, completing any pre-employment testing, or otherwise participating in the employee selection process, please email candidate_accommodations@upstart.com ************************************************ #J-18808-Ljbffr
