Previous successful hires have had prior work experience as landmen, in-house legal and compliance attorneys, oil and gas finance executives, or counsel at a state regulatory agency. Key Responsibilities
Oil & Gas Title Expertise:
Conduct title examinations to determine ownership related to oil and gas properties.
Identify and analyze relevant documents such as deeds, leases, and contracts to establish ownership rights.
Draft title opinions highlighting any defects, liens, or other issues that may impact the ownership or use of the property.
Conduct due diligence reviews for clients involved in oil and gas transactions including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
Provide guidance on legal risks, potential liabilities, and strategies for mitigating legal issues related to oil and gas transactions.
Contract Negotiation and Drafting: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements and contracts including leases, joint operating agreements, purchase, and sale agreements. Ensure that contracts protect the interests of the client and comply with relevant laws.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Collaborate with litigation attorneys if legal action becomes necessary.
Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with all team members fostering a spirit of teamwork through honesty, hard work, and trust, while ensuring seamless execution of complex legal transactions
Meet quarterly billable requirement of 450 hours.

Position Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license with at least one year of experience drafting title opinions covering lands in Ohio, West Virginia, or Pennsylvania
Familiarity preparing large, unit-wide division order ownerships with tract and allocation factors

Work EnvironmentSchedule
Equality Ohio's regular business hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. Non-exempt employees shall be permitted a 30-minute paid lunch each day. All employees shall be entitled to a fifteen (15) minute break for each four (4) hour period worked. The default regular work week shall consist of forty (40) hours per week.
Due to the nature of the work of Equality Ohio - and this position in particular - employees may have to work weeknights and weekends. Employees may be permitted to balance time to equalize their workload and account for the flexibility needed to accomplish the above-mentioned work. To provide opportunities for internal meetings, employees are generally expected to establish a schedule such that they are typically available for work meetings during the hours between 9:00am and 4:00pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, recognizing that circumstances may at times require a meeting to take place outside of this timeframe. As an organization, we expressly strive to limit the number of meetings on Fridays after 12:30 noon.
Travel
This position is a hybrid in-person and virtual position. The role will include travel within the state of Ohio for court appearances, filing, and other presentations or events statewide. The role will include regular travel within the Central Ohio region and occasionally to other parts of Ohio.
Candidates should be able to travel independently across the state, sometimes overnight. In-state travel outside of the office is estimated at approximately two (2) times per month. Out-of-state travel may occur up to three (3) times per year.

You Will:
Work collaboratively with the Intake team across all offices to support the full intake process including, but not limited to, supporting staff during time on the intake queue

Work EnvironmentSchedule
Equality Ohio's regular business hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. Non-exempt employees shall be permitted a 30-minute paid lunch each day. In these and other capacities, staff members interact with tens of thousands of Ohioans each year.Job DescriptionThe Public Utilities Section is seeking an experienced attorney with at least 2 years or more of litigation and appellate advocacy experience to represent the Staff of the Ohio Power Siting Board and the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio in administrative hearings and represent the Board and Commission in direct appeals and original actions filed in the Ohio Supreme Court. Responsibilities include giving clients advice and counsel on policy issues and rulemaking, editing and filing comments on behalf of the Commission in federal agency dockets on issues impacting Ohio customers' utility bills and services, and representing the Commission as a party before federal agencies and appeals therefrom to Appellate Courts. Attorneys with excellent writing skills required; and advanced degrees or experience in energy or administrative law, environmental studies, accounting, business or engineering preferred. Prior experience arguing cases before the Ohio Supreme Court or other appellate court is preferred. We are seeking a candidate who can work independently and/or contribute as a team player with other attorneys as lead counsel on cases. This position will work a hybrid in-person/remote schedule. There may be in person requirements for training and operational needs. Job DescriptionThe Division of Financial Institutions ensures Ohioans' money is safe by regulating financial institutions and service providers.
This includes examining, supervising and regulating Ohio chartered banks and credit unions, and licensing and regulating non-depository mortgage brokers, mortgage loan originators, and other consumer lenders.
The Division's Office of Consumer Affairs provides assistance to consumers to help resolve complaints against these institutions and works to provide education to Ohioans regarding financial literacy and other consumer protection topics.
What You'll Do: Enforcement Attorney:Responsible for all regulatory regimes and license types administered by the Division's Consumer Finance Section, including: Ohio's Small Loan Act, Short-Term Loan Act, Consumer Installment Loan Act, General Loan Act, check cashers, mortgage companies, mortgage brokers, precious metal dealers, and pawnbrokers.
Responsible for handling all aspects of a full enforcement docket, including: evaluating the strength of cases, conducting legal research as necessary, developing and recommending investigative strategies, drafting subpoenas and interviewing potential fact witnesses when necessary, developing theories of the case and facilitating settlements, drafting notices of intent and settlement, and coordinating all aspects of administrative or civil enforcement actions with and through the OhioAttorney General's Office.
Respond to inquiries from, and provide legal advice to, Consumer Finance staff on an as-needed basis.
Works with Division Counsel and other staff on miscellaneous projects on an as-needed basis.
